Sunday Soccer

in #serious8 years ago

This afternoon I am spending time watching youth soccer. My grandson is age 8. At this age, the children are just beginning to learn the game. B8422858-0699-459C-B56D-8DC06C453332.jpeg

Actually, the parents are more entertaining than the players. They get so serious about watching little ones play a game.

In retrospect, I was just as bad if not worse. I came unglued a time or two. Parents must learn as much as children do.

I have become just as serious about the Steemit game. I am still learning to play. Steemit is loads of fun for me, but I recognize the need for game strategy. I have an inner need to compete. I have learned to compete with myself.

Well it is time to laugh at parents who take this life so seriously.

Here is today’s beauty.

Your grandson looks like he is a winner. Have a great day.

Oh yes, the parents watching their children and yelling at them. I do remember the times I was at the water polo swimming pool when Mark played water polo. "Mom please act normally, don't shout", he said.

I have coached 8 year old soccer for my oldest Daughter. This was about the time kids started showing signs of coordination and you could see which ones needed to move beyond house leagues pretty quickly. I helped with as young as incoming Kindergarten kids up to 4th grade.

In 4th grade my oldest made travel, but decided she didn't want to play anymore after tryouts. She changed sports completely against my suggestions. She had some real skill as a goalie and on defense. But as long as she is happy then what sport she plays doesn't really matter to me.

As for the parents...there were a few times I wanted to knock one of them out for being an ass towards their kids. Kids need to just have fun with sports when they are younger. Pushing them hard will rarely result in the outcome you are hoping for and is very likely going to have the exact opposite effect.

best wishes for his best career <3
