A "Soft" return to steemit into our wonderful community.

in #art4 years ago

When I first joined Steemit it was mainly due to the great community I heard of from @winstonalden and thought I'd give it a try. When I also discovered how we can 'earn' at the time it was an added excitement.

However, by the time I joined the price was rising and I was sub plankton. I made as best as one could who was knew and was not really 'plugged in', but why I stayed was the community.

I remember feeling for a brief moment that I'd happily found that sweet spot of Blogging I so missed. During the mid 2000's there was such a great Online moment when blogs were The Thing. I happily blogged at the time (actually doing a sort of living experimental Art Piece where I was living in the 1950s) I had such a good community of people then...but

Facebook and it's ilk grew.

And slowly people's gaze went from their computer screens happily sharing and reading little articles made by all of us to simply looking at their phones, scrolling and happily content with a single image and the MEME.

What I loved about Steemit was it HAD that old school Blog feel. However, for me, when Discord arrived, it was sort of gone. That brief moment of looking forward to the blog format was replaced by people going to discord to chat, which is fine, but it gave me that same sort of anxious feeling I get with Facebook, Insta and the like.

BUT I still do think Steemit is far above the Big Guy Social media in it's more twee connectivity. Thus, I knew I'd be back after my busy Summer. And as I know I have to also return to the other Social Media's soon, I look at that as simply 'job' whilst here I still get that feeling of a bit of an online 'village' that I've often mentioned before.

I've only been back a few days and already wonderful and talented @katharsisdrill made me this amazing drawing. And sweet @veryspider kindly mentioned my return to the platform. That is a sort of welcome I know I shan't receive on Facebook and Instagram.

Well, that is my little mini rant about why I still love this platform and hope to hop back into the joy of commenting and seeing comments in that sort of old school letter box 'waiting for the postman' way that I love. Sure it isn't the instant "ding" of messaging, but it has a joy to it that I rather love.

I better close with an image or this post will seem pointless in modern Social Media terms.

An Otter over indulging in Coffee could be a representation of my future months and the 'dive back into' social media platforms, eh?

And while I am at it, why not a shameless plug with a link to this piece of art for sale on things Here

Welcome back sweetie!

I totally understand what you mean about Steemit and I have tried to keep in touch with this community even though I spent a month here and there without appearing. Since I got back from the summer trip I have been sharing things on a regular basis and then checking on "favourites" to follow the people I like what they do and I found so many never post any more. Might be because of the devaluation of this currency. I have always kept this space as a place to kind of blog. I find that now a lot of votes are bots and not humans, that is a shame! anyway, good to "see" you here again!

Spodey is absolutely the sweetest XD

I actually like chatting to people on Discord, but didn't really like the people that kept messaging with links and "upvote my post" XD

I was just recently talking to someone about how comments went out of style when Facebook happened.

The baby otter in the coffee is so much cuteness XD Or is it a full grown otter in a humungous cup O_O as that would be a lot coffee!

Well, if he's an American Otter he's full grown and that is a 'venti' large coffee, as we know everything is bigger in America ;) @ryivhnn

We are just glad to have you back.

Aw, see that's what I like about our lil 'virtual village'.

I wonder if I started a Minecraft server called Virtual Village if we could collective meet our fellow steemians on there, :)

Then I would have my daughter build me a house :)

Otterly good to have you back! ;)
I'm just starting to get back in to it myself…

I see what you did there, :)

I'm glad to be back and as I'm foraying back into 'online' life again wondering if steemit should be my Main blog, most likely.

The Steem community is small, but has some great people. I've made a lot of friends. It's not just about crypto and making money. We enjoy the social aspect too. I would still love to see it grow. That may change it in some ways, but I want more people to share the benefits.

I feel the same about discord. I hate the idea of giving off somewhere else. I like it here, through the comments and the feed!

I can see you use the #creativecoin tag, so I guess you are aware of the steem engine coins - but I just wrote about them as I saw that @thermoplastic didn't, and thought it was easier to explain in a post instead of in the comments.

But here is something new for you that I plan to pester all the black Steem artists with (Yes, you are one of them). The deranged coin. When you have five you can give away one coin daily by writing :

!DERANGED

I just used #creativecoing tag because you and someone else said to, I've not a clue what it is? Is it another coin or a site I'm meant to sign up for? I'm barely back on here, not sure I'm up on 'all the latest' ;) @katharsisdrill

You don't need to make a new account. You can just go to this page and log in with your steemit name and steemit posting key. It looks exactly like steemit and if you go to the wallet you can power up what you got. It is called staking, but it is the same (I think you need to have you active key to do that.

The idea behind is that the creatives on Steemit can unite and support each other. There are some plans about making tribes and splitting up the steem communities, but I haven't really understood how that will work. This on the other hand is pretty simple. If you write #creativecoin in your tags and power up these new coins you will give some extra money to the artists you upvote.
