Stary Oskol, the city where I lived
Hello everyone and have a good time of the day. I want to tell you about the city in which I lived for two years. This is Stary Oskol, not far from Belgorod. For those who do not know geography well, it is difficult. a place where winters are not so cold yet, but not as hot as in the southern seas.
the city was founded in 1953 and was originally created as an outpost on the banks of the Oskolets River. since then, in 1617 the city was burned by the Poles and restored by the voivode Skuratov. So the Poles received a retaliatory defeat.
about the Tatars - they approached Stary Oskol in 1625, 1642 and 1677, but they could not take this outpost city. The secret is still kept, why the Poles managed to burn the city, but the Tatars did not manage to take the battle.
Then I skip the wars and battles that Oskol withstood, I will continue from 1917 the city was part of the Russian lands, then the USSR, then the Great Patriotic War, the mega grandiose battle near Prokhorovka, the tank battle, now the third military field.
The city is developing due to the fact that in the vicinity of GOKI there are iron ore mining plants, and there and then the Oskol Electric Smelting Metallurgical Plant.
The city is developing, there is a long tram line, parks, a golf club, a stadium, as well as many new neighborhoods. In terms of living standards, the Belgorod region is in third place in Russia. The population is half a million inhabitants, there is an airport, three large famous cities of Belgorod, Kursk, Voronezh are located nearby. The city is home to many nationalities, including the Bulgarians who helped build this city. Thank you for your time and now you know about such a city.
