Love is a relative term. It means different things to different people. To some it's an intense unexplainable feeling which can be likened to having butterflies in one's tummy and to others it's just a feeling ranked slightly above mere likeness.

For me, my definition of love is the former. I believe love is an intense emotional outburst of feelings that can't be quantified nor explained but can only be likened to certain things. Hence the reason why love is likened to having butterflies in one's tummy.

My fiancée recently asked me why I love her and my simple answer was I don't know why but I just know I love her beyond words.

Love transcends the traditional feeling of likeness and it can't be attached to certain qualities or things the person does. You don't love a person because of beauty or intelligence or anything intact you love without reasons and that's why most people end up with those they initially wouldn't have considered as spouses but because they fell in love they don't see flaws nor advantages. Chances are that if you love someone because of certain traits, that feeling is just a mere likeness that's has gone to a certain high degree and not true love.

The bottom line is love does not happen with reasons, it's spontaneous, unpredictable, selfless, and unexplainable.
