See I found a better way to take care of my Cat's wastes + beautiful shots of the man Freddie.

I am here this time to talk a little about my adventures with my cat Freddie. For those who have been following me for a pretty long time now and if you have checked my bio, you will notice that I've got a hansome young man as a Pet... It's been a nice experience having a first pet all along, but one thing I have complained of was the dilema of how to deal with the waste our young man has been churning out as expected of a living thing.

Cats for who they are love secrecy in things that have to do with their excrete, that's why you will have a cat franticly scratching the floor before and after he does his business. In this case and unfortunately, I live in a place wherein it is pertinent I keep my pet inside. This has deprived my pet of the ability to sycronise what would have been his way of taking out his waste.

From times back, I have partaken in the suffering that the young man has to go through..lolz. All my carpets are now turn because Freddie always wants to keep his excreta away from the public and the way that seems best for him is to drop it under my carpet and cover it up. In some and most cases, he does it around where I have made him do it while (around the toilet) I pick the waste and drop in the closet.In some other instances, he keeps it under the carpet and I only come to see it few days after the business has been done. Some times, it is well covered up that I don't get to see it at all until maggots are feasting on the waste. In fact, he does it sometimes that he has to tear up a whole section of the carpet and then drops his excrete and then covers with the large carpet...

Well, the case of the feces is a far smaller one when compared to how I had to cope with his urine. I have most times tried to make him get into the toilet to do the business but he seems to be unwilling to go around water. So, from time, I've had to live with him doing it at a position he has chosen(close to the toilet while I try to clean the much I can and allow the rest be a "fragrance"; obvious to any visitor coming around.

Late last year however, I was thinking of getting him a parkaged cat meal at least for a change of taste from the regular purely human foods I get to give to him and also because I really don't eat much myself at home and won't want to make him pay for my actions. I got to the mall and I scouted round... I saw a yellow nylon containing an item I perceived to be food. However, signs around makes it look like it's not but I rejected them. I got the item and some others things I thought to buy then left for home.

Getting home, I was ready to tear open the nylon and give my baby some change of taste. Then I had to check again... This looks too heavy to be a food. And also, the way it shakes... Okay, so I looked more on the things written an it and I saw "cat litter", and then something about "oxidation". It was after then that what was written and illustrated on the package made sense to me. I read the instructions and latter found out I was dealing with something my cat can pee into and the smell is taken in by the oxidant in the package.

And I got him a toy too...

For me, it was an interesting discovery. I thought I can always get the food latter on and just make do with this current experiment. I followed the instructions on the package and was almost discouraged when I read that using the littler would have been nice if one started with his kitten at less than 6 weeks old because one needs the time to familiarise his cat with the process. Here is Freddie who is more thna 6 months old loz, but I was optimistic he was gonna use it.

Bringing my belief to fruition, Freddie approached the bowl with the litter in it and did his business... He even at a point in time latter on found it comfortable to sleep in. Well, it's an absorbent and more like absorbs and dries the smell. I actually smelled the litter after he used it and there was no trace of such. For me, it was a break through.

In all, what I'm still left with is coping with the poo... I tried several times to make him do it in the litter but he has refused. He did for a little while when I picked one of the ones he did on the floor and dropped it in the little. He approached it and covered it up and then started doing both businesses in the litter until we traveled and came back and then, he just does his pee in the litter... Well, something just came to mind now. I'll probably need to try getting him another litter. Maybe he can do the poo in that and the wee in the other.

And here, for those who's missed the man Freddie. I was at "home" during the holidays and had the opportunity of using my brother's camera to take some really nice shots of the young prince. Trust you'll love them.
