"The Miracle Fruit- Calabash"
"THE MIRACLE FRUIT"
This is common in Mindanao. Although not very popular yet, it looks like a coconut in appearance.
Even the name of this one is strange: calabash. The Scientific name is Crescentia cujete . It is known as calabacero in Spain; totumo in Colombia and Panama, mate in Ecuador; pate in Peru; jicaro in Mexico; higuera in Puerto Rico; and rum tree in Sri Lanka. But here in Philippines this os known as miracle fruit .
This is such a nice fruit : according to one health article that I've read this fruit can treat cancer and in Davao Medical School Foundation has confirmed that calabash fruit has a blood sugar lowering effect to the tested animals.
