How I learned to love colours...

in #art7 years ago

Hi, to everyone interested in my "artistic journey"!

Today I want to talk about how I started to use colours in my drawings. If you look at my last post you'll see that at the beginning I mainly used black and white for my creations. I don't know why but black always was my favourite "colour". I know that black is the abscence of any colour... so I never really thought about using colours until Pinkmanati on devianArt (pinkmanati.deviantart.com) coloured one of my drawings:

I was really stunned by the result and what the colours did to my motive. But I wasn't convinced at all to start using colours. So Pinkmanati coloured another one:

I really liked seeing my creations in colour and after that I started to use colours by myself. I will show you my first steps:

At the beginning I wasn't quite happy with the results but with time and practice I really enjoyed using colours more and more. But I think this is enough for today and in the next post I will show you how colourful my drawings are now. xD

Thank you for reading my blog and I hope you enjoy my creations.

bye

PS: feel free to colour one of the above drawings I have posted at the beginning. I always love to see how other people/artists would colour one of my drawings. thank you very much.

PPS: I really used the word colour very often... sorry. xD colour

Weird art, different and bold, I like! And yes your choice of colors is awesome

Thank you!

Yes, at the beginning it was hard for me to use colours but after a few tries I fell in love using them. and I think sometimes it was/is too much. But all in all I really like it to combine weird, ugly, macabre motives with some powerful colours. It's a nice contrast... but to be honest I don't know that much about colour theory. I choose the colours more intuitive... sometimes my girlfriend doesn't like the colours I pick. She says, they are way to piercing. haha she is right, I know and maybe I will let her colour one of my creations. would be nice to see the result because she has a taste in colour. not like me...
sorry for the long message and thank you for your feedback.
bye

I pefer a long human message rather than a bot ;-). Choosing colors with intuition is a little bit like 'having a beat'...yoy either do or you don't (obviously you do!)

Yes, you're right! A human conversation is a lot better... thank you for your motivating comment. I am glad that you like my choices of colour. I appreciate that! bye
