In Structures today, i will be writing about the tallest building in london; The Shard.

The Shard Of Glass

The shard of glass is a 95-storey building located in southwark London, the shard is owned by the State of Qatar and Seller group. The building was designed by renowned italian architect Renzo Piano, the construction of the shard incurred a cost of over £400 million with a time duration of 40 months.

The shard is the tallest most eco-friendly building in london, over 95% of the building material used were recycled material. The most desirable building in london was built with over 12,000 tonnes of steel to support the 1017 feet skyscraper.

It comprises offices, restaurants, a gallery and other complex with about 72 floors which are currently accessible by 44 lifts.

It also serves as a major attraction site in london with an exhilararing view from the outdoor observation deck The view from the shard on the 72nd floor at a height of 245metres and triple gallery on the 69th floor.

The Shard project started in 2009 and was completed and inaugurated in 2012 by the prime minister of Qatar.
