Luke Chapter 5 Verses 1 – 10

Fisher Of Men

One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of Gennesaret, the people were crowding around him and listening to the word of God. He saw at the water’s edge two boats, left there by the fishermen, who were washing their nets. He got into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon, and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he sat down and taught the people from the boat.
When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon, “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.”
Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
When they had done so, they caught such a large number of fish that their nets began to break. So they signaled their partners in the other boat to come and help them, and they came and filled both boats so full that they began to sink.
When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!” For he and all his companions were astonished at the catch of fish they had taken, and so were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners.
Then Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now on you will fish for people.”

What great joy soul winning brings! The tax collectors and sinners came to listen to Jesus but the Pharisees complained that He is associating with sinful people. So Christ told them a parable of the lost sheep.
He emphasized the great effort that they would make to find one of their lost sheep and the joy that would expressed when it is found. Jesus said : ”There is more joy in heaven over one sinner who changes his heart and life, than over ninety-nine good people who don’t need to change”.
The parable of the lost coin is a similar parable.
There is reward in obeying the Lord’s commands. There is joy in heaven when a sinner repents; and you can facilitate that joy by Leading someone to Christ.
Ten thousand hydrogen bombs could detonate and the blast would not shake even the nearest stars. But let one soul be saved-just one-and there is rejoicing even beyond the stars! The soul winner can produce happiness in another world.
Jesus said: “It is not the will of your Father who is in heaven that one of these little ones should perish”
Matthew Chapter 18 verse 14

In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should perish.

Every soul is important to God, both children and adults need the gospel. You can never tell what God can do with the seed you sow by proclaiming the Gospel. Andrew bought Simon; Simon brought 3000 souls to Christ in one day.
