BATTLEWOM Tales: May the claws be with you!

The mountain loomed high above him.

How am I ever, ever, going to climb that? A butterfly flapped to a perch near GrrrWom's head.

"Ever?"

The MoonMonkey had been levitating as she told GrrrWom to meet her at the mountain top.

Then, annoyingly, "May the claws be with you," Matilda had said.

"What does that even mean?" BattleWom gritted his teeth and slowly inched his way higher and higher up the slope.

GrrrWom had been around the block more than once, and was openly amazed at the things the Moon Monkey could do. But claws that could chart a path anywhere through the galaxy? "No way!"

"Stoopid Moon Monkey."

The butterfly floated away on the breeze, but no sooner had GrrrWom wished it good riddance when it returned.

He thought about kicking it away, but refrained. Instead he directed his feet ever upwards.

"Huh. Claws!" He felt humiliated. "And what was that about nail polish? What if my friends had seen?! I don't care how important claws are or how worthy of protection!" Nail polish!

The cliff face became steeper. He dug his claws in and kept going. "Nail polish! As if!"

Fuming like that, GrrrWom climbed on, forgetting everything except his claws and the outrage he felt.

"And what does MoonMonkey know about being a battlewom anyway?"

The butterfly flitted past and landed, and then Matilda was hanging upside down from the same outcrop GrrrWom was climbing.

"Good question BattleWomlet. I may have taught you about the importance of the battlewom's claws, but there is still the question of your noggin.

"See you at the summit."

And suddenly GrrrWom saw. He was standing comfortably on the roof of an outcrop of rock near the summit. Upside down, with claws extended deeply into the rock.

And just like that, something in GrrrWom changed. "Wom," he said. "Wom, wom, wom.."

And he proceeded to meet his master at the summit.
