What is the snake?
Snakes are some of the most fascinating animals that exist, although the strange shape of their body, so different from that of human beings, is odious to many people. It is a reptile that has some very special peculiarities
Snakes belong to the kingdom of reptiles, as do lizards, crocodiles and turtles. All these reptiles have a waterproof skin, covered by scales that can develop into elaborate ridges or vertebrae, or even transform into a thick armor of protective shells.
They are good predators, who have used elegant strategies to turn their lack of limbs into an advantage. Some can catch a bat in the air, even in absolute darkness. Others can climb thin branches, stretching and contouring their bodies in magisterial geometric designs. There are some that are so strong that it takes three or more men to untangle their rings from the trunk of a tree.
One marvels at its exquisite variety of shapes and colors. There are more than 2,700 types of snakes, whose size ranges between 10 millimeters and 10 meters, and which are found in different habitats.
Why did Satan use a snake to talk to Eve?

▪The Bible clearly states that it was Satan who manipulated the serpent in the Garden of Eden. But why would someone so powerful use that method?
The Word of God warns us that Satan uses cunning "machinations" to try to deceive us, and the story of Eden is a good example of it (Ephesians 6:11). Far from being a simple fable with talking animals, it is a clear example of the tricks with which the Devil tries to distance us from God. Let's see in more detail why he used that ruse.
Admittedly, Satan knew how to choose his victim. He knew that Eva was the youngest and most inexperienced being in the universe, so he devised a very malicious trick. As if it were a ventriloquist, it made him believe that the speaker was a snake, an animal stealthy by nature. In this way he managed to hide his identity and his true intentions (Genesis 3: 1). But he also achieved other goals.

To begin with, he captured Eva's interest, since she knew that snakes do not speak. Let's not forget that her husband studied the animals - including the snake - and he named them all, so it is very likely that she also knew this reptile well (Genesis 2:19). The fact is that it stung her curiosity, and ended up fixing her attention on the only thing she was forbidden to touch in the whole garden. On the other hand, suppose that the serpent was among the branches of the tree. In such a case, the devil's trick may have led Eve to think that the serpent had eaten the fruit and that was why she was able to speak. It might even be said: "If the fruit has had this effect on a snake, what will happen if I eat it?" We do not know for sure whether Eva passed this idea through her head, nor whether the serpent ate from the tree. But there is one thing that is certain: when the serpent told him that if he ate the fruit he would be "like God", Eva did not hesitate to believe him.
In addition, Satan chose his words very well. By letting Eve understand that God was hiding something good from him, that he was unfairly restricting her freedom, she made him doubt Jehovah God. He knew that, in order for his plan to work, she had to put her selfish desires above love to her Creator, who had given her everything (Genesis 3: 4, 5). Unfortunately, the play went well. It became clear that Eve had not cultivated true love and gratitude for Jehovah; and the same could be said of Adam. And is not it true that today the Devil promotes the same type of selfish ideas to turn people away from God?
Now, what did Satan intend with that trick? What were your true intentions? In Eden he tried to hide his identity and his motives, but after some time he did not care to show his true face. When he tempted Jesus, as he knew that the costumes would not be of any use to him, he went to the point and brazenly asked him to give him "an act of worship" (Matthew 4: 9). It is obvious that envy corrodes him because of the adoration that Jehovah receives, and that he would do anything to divert or contaminate it. He loves to get human beings to disobey God.
Fortunately, the Bible puts us on notice, because it has warned us that the Devil is very clever and is determined to deceive us. As "we are not in ignorance of his designs" and his traps, we do not have to commit the same foolishness as Eve (2 Corinthians 2:11).
If I'm not mistaken that is why the snake is forced to crawl around on its belly since it was used to deceive Eve. This is a great post about snakes for the celestial challenge and resteeming so hopefully, more people will be able to see this post!
Thanks for sharing this story and your thoughts on it!
You are right, that is why God punishes the serpent, to eat dust all his life, for having deceived Eve.
Thank you very much for your comment, blessings and many greetings.
