The act of cheating on steemit

Steemit, a platform that has made a lot of people wealthy is seen as a means to make money by a large number of people. Most people employ different methods in increasing their payouts and followers ranging from posting of quality content, engaging in meaningful interactions with authors through the comment box and organising contests and challenges on steemit.
While some genuinely try to increase their payouts and followers, some engage in activities that can be regarded as cheating. Activities ranging from plagiarism, spamming, and creation of dormant accounts are classified as cheating. The cheetah bot has been kept working by those who engage in plagiarism, the comment box of many authors have suffered a great deal from spammed comments while organisers of contests and challenges that require highest upvotes to win have also felt the impact of cheats that create dormant accounts just to upvote themselves. The activities of these internet hoodlums discourage contests organisers who tend to give out steem and sbd as reward for winners of their various contest.
Spam comments like nice post, great work, weldone, brilliant etc are aimed at getting underserved upvotes from the author of the post and most people that do this do not read the post before commenting.
The greatest problem facing steemit can be said to be the plagiarism by some authors. Some copy articles from the internet and paste it on their blog without referencing the owner of the article.
sourceA platform meant for rewarding hardworking authors has been bastardised by these internet hoodlums, their actions making it tough for minnows to get noticed and appreciated.
