Gurudwara Chheharta Sahib

I live in Amritsar, Punjab, and belong to a Sikh Family. There are several Tourist Attractions in Amritsar Like the World Famous Golden Temple, Khalsa College, Memorial Museums, Old Gates, Markets, Heritage Parks, and many Sikh and Hindu Temples, which are visited by many hundreds of people every month. Today, I'm Going to Talk about Gurudwara Chheharta Sahib (A Sikh Temple), which is very Near to my house (~2-3 km from my home) and Dear to my Heart.

Why I choose this Place for the Contest

People from around the World, Visit Amritsar for Golden Temple and secondly for Wagah Border. There are Plenty of Cultural and Heritage sites to watch in Amritsar besides the above two places. From Golden Temple to Chheharta Sahib, the area would not be more than 10 km and the route is very easy to Follow. This Gurudwara is one of the Hidden Gem in my Hometown , Because of the Following Points -

S.no.CategoryRemarks
1.CultureYou can enjoy the essence of Sikh Culture at this Gurudwara(Temple). There are many stories of the bravery of Sikhism and its Culture which you can explore.
2.4 GatesYou Know there are 4 gates in every Gurudwara, representing every Culture & Religion & these 4 doors are built so that they can show that Gurudwaras are open to every person regardless of their caste, religion, color, or culture. And, I believe this is the beauty of Sikhism that we say
IK ONKAR
, Means All God are One.
3.BeautyCovered with White Marbles just like a palace floating in Heaven. Gurudwara Chheharta Sahib is a delight to the eyes and the peaceful vibes around these monuments make you feel like you're floating in the air.
4.Guru ka LangarAnyone can eat for free and much as they want in the Langar ( Food) made in the Community Kitchen.
5.ConnectivityThis Gurudwara is connected with Chheharta Bazar (Market), where everything is available from food, and clothes to furniture, etc. There is a Railway station near this Gurudwara and a beautiful park. All of this is within 1km of the area.
6.Holy Pool and RitualsGurudwara Chheharta Sahib also has a Holy Pool, like the Golden Temple which we call SAROVAR in my native language. Devotees take a dip in the holy water before entering the Gurudwara. However, it is not compulsory. In every gurdwara, you can only enter with your Head Covered and bare feet. Because This is Sikh Tradition and it shows your love and Respect for WAHEGURU.
7.Public FacilitiesThere are a lot of facilities for the people who come to pay Obesiance in the Gurudwara. There is a Big Car & Scotter Parking (for free). Locker Rooms ( For Free), Shoe Stand ( for free), Water Outlets to drink water at several points, Langar obviously, Washrooms, etc

My Early Morning Visit

1. People Take a Dip in the Holy Water and Then, Take a round around the Holy Pool, Which we call PARIKARMA. There is a separate portion for Ladies to take a dip in the holy water.

2. The Park is very well maintained and there are several benches to sit on, an open gym for exercising, Water Fountain which is well lit at the night, hut type sittings for Old People to Hang around. The Park is very clean and several modifications are still in progress. Grassy Landscape and Trees all around give this park a very rich look. I spend 15 minutes here today and it was really refreshing, even though it was 11 am in the morning and the sun was bright. I enjoyed my time.

3. The Chheharta Railway Station is recently redeveloped and it is way more advanced than it was before. You can visit this station after the park as it is only a few steps away from the park and the Temple. Once you visit this, you can move to a Shiv Temple (100m) and then come to the market.

If I'm sad, This place will make me feel happy. If I'm Happy, This place will make do Voluntary. If I'm stressed, This place would be Meditative. So, This was all for the day and I can say anyone who visits this place is going to be memorable for you and you will never get enough of this place.
