The most spectacular religion rite on Bali (photos)!
Ogoh-ogoh are statues built for the Ngrupuk parade, which takes place on the eve of Nyepi day in Bali, Indonesia.
They are the symbols of the Evil, human sins, vices and fears (can be demons from Balinese Hinduism or even characters of popular movies of cartoons).
In a final stage of the parade they are destroyed and put to the torch as an act of purification from the Evil and sins.
After that the whole island immerse in silence. Airport is officialy closed, internet is off. Prohibited to go outside the house, make loud noise, and use light (especially at night). Restrictions must be kept even by tourists and hotels.
Be sure to follow me to see pictures from that awesome silent night.

Wow these are so intense! They are so over-the-top in the first place and then the crazy lighting gives them this hyper-realism. Like they are shimmering with energy and about to animate. You really captured some great shots here. Cheers - Carl
