The Near Death Experience: Deception?

The experience I had, where I found myself in a tunnel walking towards a very brilliant white light, is very similar to a phenomenon known as NDE or Near-Death Experience. In many of these experiences, individuals find themselves in the presence of beings of light or in a celestial place. The majority of the cases that I have investigated report that these places and beings are very pleasant. In some cases, individuals are given messages to take to the world or receive some sort of revelation. Many of these messages or revelations are very New Age and mysterious. These revelations are often given by a being of light or by someone referring to themselves as Jesus.

In my experience, I was in the presence of a “being” of immense light. There were other presences around me, however, I could not see them. They were in the darkness. The light was very brilliant and bright, yet I was not blinded. The “being” that stood before me was in garments that were so white that I cannot properly explain it. I could not see this “beings” face. It remained hidden by the brilliance of the light behind His head and all around Him. He did not introduce Himself as Y’shua, Jesus, or YHWH. He did not give me a message to take to the world and I did not receive a new revelation of any kind. His message was directed to me alone. What He revealed to me was revealed to me alone. It was extremely powerful. It had a lasting impact that changed my life.

I have found that those who have had NDE’s return with a message that is unbiblical. Though the message seems “good” and “positive”, they are typically New Age in substance. Their experiences, for the most part, cannot be backed up biblically. I know that the enemy can reveal themselves to be beings of light. Demons can masquerade themselves as positive and good beings. They are deceptive. If the message that a person receives does not match up with the Word of YHWH, then it was not from YHWH. If the message or revelation they receive does not match up with the character and personality of YHWH, then it was not from YHWH.

It is interesting that in my experience no being introduced themselves to me. The revelation was for me and I was not given a message to take to the world. Our supernatural experiences must match up with the Word of YHWH. If it doesn’t, then the experience was not from YHWH. I was not taken by the hand and walked through “heaven” with a smiling Jesus. I was not allowed beyond the light. I could not pass through the “being” in front of me. In fact, what happened is that He revealed to me my transgressions and gave me an ultimatum. It was not a joke. It wasn’t fun. I was only allowed to go so far and then I was led back into the darkness after my ultimatum.

What is concerning to me is that so many in the body of Messiah have fallen for deceptive messages and revelations. They hear of some grand experience, where the person receives a message to give the world, and fail to test it with scripture. They hear of a little boy who dies and is shown heaven, where he meets his dead sister and grandpa with angel’s wings, and do not test it with scripture. I am not trying to ridicule, but we must have discernment in these situations. We must test the spirits; 1 John 4:1. I believe in the supernatural. I believe that our Heavenly Father can give us experiences that we’ll never forget. I believe that He does reveal things to us. What He reveals will match up with His character and Word.

Some of these so-called revelations share a kinship with soothsaying and fortune telling. “Real” psychics have been known to reveal secrets and hidden mysteries to intrigued audiences. They seem to “know” things. Truly, they do. Witchcraft and sorcery is not powerless. There is another place beyond the veil where beings reveal messages and revelations. Demons lurk beyond the spirit board, the crystal ball, and dancing tables. Mediums allow themselves to be used as conduits for demonic beings masquerading as dead family members. The enemy of Messiah has been known to reveal itself as an angel of light; beautiful and welcoming. Beings of light have been known to penetrate the dreams and visions of man. They have been known to reveal future events and deceive large groups of people. And yes, they deceive individuals who have had a near-death or outer body experience.

How do we know they have been deceived? When their messages are delivered, when their new revelations are revealed, and they are opposite of Y’shua’s message and revelation; they have been deceived.

You make a good point. The Bible is all the revelation we need.

We have a very impressive collection of books, testimonies, and letters that we call the Bible. Within its' pages can be discovered many truths. The character and personality of the Creator can be found inside of it. Without the Bible we would not know His desires; what He approves of and disapproves of. Our experiences and beliefs must be bounced off of the Word. In order to avoid deception, we MUST rely on the Bible as a whole. Thanks for reading. God Bless!
