Sibolga-Nias Expedition Entrepreneurs Threatened Roll Mats

Due to its diminishing incomes, Sibolga-Nias freight forwarding businessmen complained. The reason, many business expedition from Medan City directly send goods to the islands of Nias, and vice versa.
Binahati Ziliwu representing expedition entrepreneurs revealed, so far bulk goods from Medan City that will be sent to Nias Islands, dismantled first in Sibolga then sent through Port of Sibolga.
"Now it's not like that anymore, there have been many expedition cars from Medan directly to the Nias Islands via Sibolga Port," Binahati told reporters on Thursday (12/4).
Not only that, he continued, at this time the entrepreneurs in the city of Gunungsitoli also already have their own fleet, so it does not require freight forwarding services.
"Then, trade transactions between entrepreneurs in Gunungsitoli with Medan City are also done directly," he added.
Due to such tight competition, the number of Sibolga-Nias expedition entrepreneurs can now be counted on the fingers. According to Binahati, only a few people survive. While many of the loading and unloading workers lost their jobs.
The commodities are only hoping for bulk goods from containers coming from Jakarta, plus other commodities such as bran, rice and other Nine Staple goods (sembako), plus salted fish and fish.
"For commodity spices such as chili peppers, onions and vegetables, usually sent directly by traders and agents," he said.
Ziliwu added that agricultural commodities from the islands of Nias transported to Sibolga are not numerous. There are several types of banana, coconut, copra and rubber. Then some types of fish to be exported.
"Various types of agricultural commodities are on average transported 10 trucks each day from the Nias Islands to the Port of Sibolga," said Binahati.
