SEC17/W1 | Heaven and Hell fantasy or reality?

Humans have used myths as explanations for every issue they encountered since ancient times, before eventually transitioning to the positivist phase we are in now. Comte explained that there are three stages of societal understanding of phenomena around them: the theological stage, the metaphysical stage, and the positivist stage. Image source here

The Origins of Heaven and Hell

Heaven and hell is a concept created in the theological phase, where this concept represents the oldest manifestation of myths. Human belief in the existence of heaven and hell seems not to have been recently preserved, but has existed for centuries since ancient civilizations.

In this concept, hell is depicted as a form of punishment for rebels, while conversely, heaven becomes the most beautiful place where its beauty is so magnificent, no one has ever witnessed such beauty before. This belief has existed for 5000 years and continues to be passed down to this day. It is a highly mysterious matter; so mysterious that every religion has its own version of the definition of heaven and hell. Meanwhile, science denies all information except for all the facts and data found through something objective and measurable.

Deaths and Afterlife

However, one thing is certain: death is the only absolute truth known to humankind. Because it is the only certainty known to humans, what happens afterward is nothing more than a puzzle. And humans will continue to perpetually seek the truth behind these puzzles.

Civilizations that have perished, such as the Greeks and Romans, Aztecs, Egyptians, and Ancient Chinese, inherited many things about end-of-days myths. However, what interests me the most is the perspectives of each religion.

I dare not explore further into the perspectives of each religion because that is not my domain. Especially since there are thousands of religions still in existence in the world today. Because this is quite confusing, even atheists when angry might say, "go to hell" LOL. Image source here

As I mentioned every religion has its own version of the end of days. For example Abrahamic religions like Islam, Judaism, and Christianity believe that the human soul in the afterlife exists in another world, while other religions like Hinduism and Buddhism believe in reincarnation. According to the belief in reincarnation, the life we are living now is a consequence of the life we lived in the past. Similarly, if we do evil in our current life, then we will be reborn as unfortunate person.

By the way, speaking of reincarnation, I honestly don't quite believe in this concept. Because I believe that what we have right now, whether good or bad fortune, is a consequence of the series of steps we took previously. Similarly, our future fate is somewhat determined by what we do right now, this moment. So it would be sad if someone experiences a bad fate just because they are unaware that someone in the past has determined their life as it is now.

The Alternate Realities

I recently read a novel titled "Davion the Dragon King," a silly yet entertaining novel I found on a web-based novel app. This ancient Chinese culture-based novel tells the story of an underground business king with trillions of dollars in wealth and an independent army of 10,000 soldiers. Initially, this business king never dealt with immortality or believed in parallel worlds until one day he had an experience crossing into a different dimension.

One day, his private scientific lab discovered a source of energy that could be absorbed by his body, known in martial arts as "cakra." Long story short, after reaching the highest level of cakra mastery (Cakra Emperor), he finally came into contact with the world of immortality and could even enter other worlds and ancient battlefields. It turns out there is still life on ancient battlefields, and that's where his immortality adventure begins.

My Personal Beliefs

I will not reveal the secrets of what I believe regarding the concepts of heaven and hell, karma, and immortality. Let those beliefs remain my own personal consumption. Perhaps immortality is a transition from the realm we currently experience to another realm that may have existed since long, long ago. Also, immortality could be the ability of cell regeneration that prevents someone from aging and dying.

As a closing statement from me: something we don't see doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't exist. It could be hiding behind a very large secret, and maybe if we try to comprehend it, we might go mad. Image source here

The concept of heaven and hell has long been a part of human belief systems, dating back to ancient civilizations. While religions offer varying perspectives on the afterlife, the mystery of what happens beyond death continues to intrigue us. Whether it be through notions of reincarnation, parallel worlds, or immortality.

Millions of possibilities could unfold after we die. Perhaps not experiencing reincarnation, parallel worlds, or immortality, but there could be another reality we've never imagined before. We never know..
