Banned and Listed - Vestal Virgin

in #film7 years ago (edited)

I made this short film and won several awards for it. When Youtube recently changed their algorithms it got marked as "not suitable for most advertisers" and they won't even review the situation until it reaches 1000 views in a week. It has been there for a while and so 1000 views in a week is unlikely.

It got banned for day-time viewing by Westminster Council when it was in the short film competition, but the organisers showed it more in the evening to make it up to me.

It is based on a poem, so I would have thought it would be covered by an 'arts' blanket, but clearly Youtube doesn't really consider context or merit when it stops adverts on your content.

Maybe it looks like I am naked in it, I don't know. Maybe the subject matter was too much.

Anyway, Vestal Virgin - an award winning film that has (technically) been banned twice.

It's all about money, which sickens me. I for one admire someone who tries something different. Best to you.

Thanks! I am still very annoyed about Youtube's new policy. There seems to be no easy to understand, easily available policy as to what they will and won't accept.
