How will we live in the same house as the enemy? Will there be peace in our hearts knowing that a truce has not been reached? The truth is that we could not be calm knowing that at the same table where the bread will be served, a considerable portion will also be served for this other.

Unforgiveness hardens our hearts; However, we have the ability to decide, decide to forgive, decide to hug, decide not to hate... Changing things within us is not an easy thing to do, turning negative feelings into positive is as complicated as it is exhausting, but we can do it if it is the really thing to do, that we really want. The question is whether it is worth doing.

Why? Why should we forgive first? Why will we take the first step towards the truce if the other does nothing? The answer is: Because we know that it is the right thing to do, because we have seen that this situation, this lack of forgiveness is taking away our peace and, without peace and without holiness, no one will see the Lord.

So yes, the lack of harmony and discord between us directly affects our spiritual life and can even take away our salvation. Is it worth losing your salvation because of pride? I would say no. I prefer to seek peace, I prefer to try to forgive, I prefer to see my brother as I once saw him: with eyes of love.

"Look how good and how delicious it is To inhabit the brothers together in harmony!"

¿Cómo habitaremos en la misma casa que habita el enemigo? ¿Habrá paz en nuestro corazón sabiendo que no se ha alcanzado una tregua? Lo cierto es que no podríamos estar en calma sabiendo que en la misma mesa donde nos servirán el pan, también se servirá una porción considerable para este otro.

La falta de perdón endurece nuestros corazones; no obstante, tenemos la capacidad de decidir, decidir perdonar, decidir abrazar, decidir no odiar… Cambiar las cosas en nuestro interior no es algo fácil de hacer, convertir los sentimientos negativos en positivos es tan complicado como agotador, pero podemos hacerlo si es lo que de verdad queremos. La pregunta es si vale la pena hacerlo.

¿Por qué? ¿Por qué debemos perdonar nosotros primero? ¿Por qué daremos el primer paso hacia la tregua si el otro no hace nada? La respuesta es: Porque sabemos que es lo correcto, porque hemos visto que esa situación, esa falta de perdón nos está quitando la paz y, sin paz y sin santidad nadie verá al Señor.

Entonces sí, la falta de armonía y la discordia que hay entre nosotros afecta directamente nuestra vida espiritual pudiendo incluso arrebatarnos la salvación. ¿Vale la pena perder la salvación por el orgullo? Diría que no. Prefiero buscar la paz, prefiero intentar perdonar, prefiero ver a mi hermano como alguna vez lo vi: con ojos de amor.
