Beijing Mandarin Oriental Hotel brings a pure English afternoon tea experience
Classic traditional English afternoon tea featuring exquisite sandwiches, freshly baked English muffins with creamy cream and delicious pastries will be presented in a special way at Mandarin Oriental, Wangfujing, Beijing. Experience an elegant afternoon tea inspired by The Rosebery Lounge at Mandarin Oriental, Hyde Park, London, in this luxury boutique hotel with 73 rooms and suites.
In addition to following the recipes from London, the afternoon tea at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Wangfujing, Beijing, has been specially decorated with the gorgeous tea cups in The Rosebery lounge style. The orange-shaped brass metal frame is decorated with crystal balls, and the metal ring is made into a birdcage shape and suspended from the twigs of orange branches. Each layer of the bird cage is decorated with elaborate sandwiches, pastries and cakes.
A range of delicious afternoon tea dishes include slow-roasted Coronese chicken originally created to commemorate the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, smoked salmon sauce with lime, caviar and cream, Japanese organic egg truffle salad and cucumber, and Clams and cream cheese.
Another main feature of afternoon tea is the vanilla and raisin English muffins, paired with creamy cream, homemade lemon curd, rose sauce or blueberry sauce from the UK to create an authentic British flavor. Hand-made exquisite pastries are also available, including strawberry vanilla rolls, lychee rose puffs, banana yoghurt macarons, royal chocolate tarts, hazelnut cream and jasmine.
In addition, the hotel also offers a variety of Chinese and English toasts, accompanied by dazzling tea sets. The coffee served in the hotel is made from Yunnan organic coffee beans.
The afternoon tea set is served daily from 3 pm to 5 pm, with a set of RMB 688* during the working day and RMB 758* for the weekend and holidays. Guests can also choose another RMB 128* a glass of Charles Heidsieck champagne, or RMB 158* a glass of Charles Heidsieck pink champagne with afternoon tea. From May 20th, the afternoon tea set will be available in limited quantities at the "Zi Ji" restaurant.
