Absolute trust in God. Psalm 131

in HeartChurch3 years ago

When we cease to be self-sufficient and renounce all pride and haughtiness, we give ourselves the opportunity to recognize our need for God and our full dependence on Him. By letting go of our selfishness and allowing God to enter our lives we can rest confidently in His arms and assume an innocent attitude like that of a child to come to the arms of the Lord and begin to develop a life full of trust in the God who provides us with all the resources that guarantee the success of a quality life.
In Psalm 131 King David invites us to trust fully in God as a child:

My heart is not lifted up, O Lord, nor my eyes lifted up;
Nor have I walked in great things
Nor in things too high for me.
2 Indeed I have behaved myself and quieted my soul
as a child weaned from its mother
as a weaned child is my soul.
3 Wait, O Israel, on the LORD,
from this time forth and for evermore. Psalms 131 Reina-Valera 1960 (RVR1960)

Trust in God leads us to wrap ourselves firmly in his arms and to be safe under his shadow. A person's simple heart opens the door to recognizing their need for God, however, when the heart is puffed up, we believe that we are self-sufficient to solve our problems and that we do not need God. If we walk through life with our eyes lifted up, then we are turning our backs on God and telling Him that we do not need Him in our lives. In Psalm 131, David teaches us that we should approach God with a simple and humble heart, recognizing our weaknesses and that only in God can we find rest for our souls. David teaches us not to walk with haughty and arrogant eyes, he teaches us to be humble even if we have things that can be considered riches or fame.
Haughtiness takes us away from God, but when we walk submissively in his presence, it helps us to increase our trust in God. The more simple we are before God, the more confidence we will attain before Him.
David said:

My heart is not lifted up, nor mine eyes lifted up, O LORD, nor mine eyes lifted up;
neither have I walked in great things
nor in things too high for me. Psalm 131: 1

It is necessary in our life to have an important time of silence, in which our soul remains silent before God and recognizes the faults and crimes we may have committed. When we approach God in silence, He will take care of helping us to find that confidence in Him, since sin surrounds us and we believe that God does not forgive us and this generates confusion and many doubts within us. Approaching God in silence with all humility will help us to reach His mercy and will allow us to grow in trust in Him. God wants us to approach his throne with confidence and we will find the grace of his timely help.
Certainly we have an accuser who points us before God, but we have in God a loving Father who forgives us when we recognize our error and confidently turn to Him for forgiveness.

David motivates us to have the trust of a child in his father. The child is innocent and always seeks the shadow and warmth of his father, so we must draw near to God and trust Him fully as a weaned child does with his mother.

I have behaved and soothed my soul
like a child weaned from its mother;
Like a weaned child is my soul. Psalm 131: 2

On a personal level, we must fully trust in God and on a collective level, David motivates God's people to trust in the Lord and to know how to wait, regardless of the situation in which we live.
When we learn to wait on God, we generate sufficient confidence that God will work in us according to his perfect will. In life there are multiple battles, but in the life of God's people, there is only one God to trust in who delivers us from all the battles of life. King David, always tried to motivate the people of Israel to continually put their trust in God and to wait upon Him at all times. David expressed it this way:

Wait, O Israel, on the Lord,
From this time forth and forevermore. Psalms 131: 3

We must never lose confidence in God. We must always go to his presence and we will find rest for our soul. The Lord knows the difficult times we go through, He alone expects us to take refuge in the safest place, that is, before His throne. God loves us and wants the best for all Christian people, it is up to us to trust God as a child.
