What privilege does the Christian people enjoy, which having as its foundation the living rock, the most precious and principal, chosen in advance by God, has allowed us in his love and mercy, to approach him, with the best intention that we be built as houses spiritual to become a holy priesthood and offer spiritual sacrifices with a fragrance accepted by God through Jesus Christ his Son. The apostle Peter exhorts us to understand and understand, that like Jesus Christ, we too are living stones, chosen by God to serve him as a holy people who offer the sacrifice of praise.

Christ is the living stone, rejected by human beings, but chosen and precious before God. As you approach him, 5 you too are like living stones, with which a spiritual house is being built. In this way they become a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices that God accepts through Jesus Christ. 6 Thus says the Scripture:
Look what I put in Zion
a chosen and precious main stone,
and whoever trusts her
He will never be disappointed. ”[a]
7 For you believers, this stone is precious; but for the unbelievers,
"The stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone ”, [b]
8 and also: "A stumbling block and a rock that makes it fall. ” They stumble when they disobey the word, for which they were destined.
9 But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people that belongs to God, to proclaim the marvelous works of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. 10 You were not even a people before, but now you are God's people; Before they had not received mercy, but now they have received it. Without a doubt, Christ is the living rock, who was initially rejected by the Jewish people and many human beings continue to turn their backs on him, but, for God, Christ is the chosen and most precious rock to carry out his plan of salvation for all mankind. God conditions his plan of salvation in believing and trusting in Christ, whoever does not believe, rejects him and whoever confesses and believes as his savior, God receives him as a member of the people of God. By receiving Christ as Savior, God begins a plan of spiritual edification in each believer until he becomes a holy priest. Every priest must offer spiritual sacrifice for God. The Christian is called to be a holy priest who offers spiritual sacrifice and praise to God, which represents an offering pleasing in the eyes of God. Peter said:

Christ is the living stone, rejected by human beings, but chosen and precious before God. As you approach him, 5 you too are like living stones, with which a spiritual house is being built. In this way they become a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices that God accepts through Jesus Christ. 6 Thus says the Scripture:
Look what I put in Zion
a chosen and precious main stone,
and whoever trusts her
He will never be disappointed. ' "1 Peter 2: 4-6"

The apostle Peter clarifies to us that Christ as a living stone is completely precious for the believing people, however, for those who do not believe in Him, he has been a stone that will make them stumble, which would be very painful for them. He who rejects Christ as the main rock will be rejecting the same rock that will cause him to stumble and fall. Unbelievers stumble over this rock, but for believers, it is a precious rock for salvation. When the person disobeys the word of God, he is already stumbling over the rock, which is Christ.

7 For you believers, this stone is precious; but for the unbelievers,
"The stone that the builders rejected
has become the cornerstone ”, [b]
8 and also:
"A stumbling block
and a rock that makes it fall. ”[c]
They stumble when they disobey the word, for which they were destined. "1 Peter 2: 7-8"

The extraordinary thing about being living stones like Christ is that it gives us the privilege of being a lineage chosen by God in the robes of a royal priesthood, representing for God a completely holy nation with the wonderful mission of proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ and witnessing to the world of the mighty works of God, as Peter wrote:

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people that belongs to God, to proclaim the marvelous works of the one who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. "1 Peter 2: 9"

Finally as Christians, we have to recognize that we were not God's people, but Israel, but now, through Jesus Christ, we are God's people, having received from the Lord his love and mercy, with which he has made us his people holy.

You were not even a people before, but now you are God's people; Before they had not received mercy, but now they have received it. "1 Peter 2:10"
