THE PRINCIPLE OF WISDOM IS THE FEAR OF JEHOVAH

The principle of wisdom is the fear of Jehovah; fools despise wisdom and teaching (Proverbs 1: 7).

The fear of Jehovah does not refer to the fear or terror that we should have to God. Remember that "the fear of God is clean." There can be no panic or fear of prisons. The fear of Jehovah is associated with the respect that every person must have towards God to obey his commandments.

God made man to communicate with him, not to instill terror in humanity. When God created the first man (Adam), he maintained constant communication and handed him statutes so that man would keep him, as was the case of "not eating from the tree of good and evil." When the man sinned, fear invaded him. From that moment, man began to see God in terror and God looked at man with love. So much was God's love for man, that he ended up giving his only begotten son on the cross to save humanity.

What God demands from man is respect. In this sense, "the fear of the Lord" is for man to honor him through his obedience to the Word of God.
The beginning of wisdom is rooted in the fear of Jehovah. Therefore, having man knowledge of the divine law, it is necessary to get away from evil. "The wise see evil and turn away." When the fool sees evil and follows it, it will carry the consequences of his wrongdoing.

God gives intelligence to man to know him. When God gave Moses the ten commandments for the people of Israel to follow in the desert, the first instruction focused on: "You will not have other gods before me." God's zeal for his people Israel provided the basis for Israel to turn away from idolatry and fear Jehovah, who does not share his glory with anyone.

God in all ages has given his commandments so that man can order his steps and follow good, instead of following evil. The bad is translated into sin, and sin drives man away from God. God through his wisdom seeks to bring man closer to rescue him from darkness. The wisdom of God represents the light and the light is Christ. Who has Christ has the light of life and is no longer in darkness.

If someone fears God, then he seeks the light, and the light guides him to the path of wisdom. The wisdom of God is salvation for man.
