Word of encouragement: joy strengthens the spirit || @elpastor
Sadly in the world I took refuge to seek relief, tranquility and joy for my soul. When work or family problems were intense, I looked for the simplest to try to brighten my distressed spirit. We sought the company of some friends and we went to places where alcohol was the refuge for our sorrows. When night came, I was already involved in my drunkenness and I forgot my problems and thought that this was the best solution to resolve conflicts and believe that I would find joy for my soul.
He was actually completely wrong. That was not the way to solve problems or find joy for my soul. Joy is not in the confinement of the world, joy has a source that flows within a person converted to Christ, and is crystallized with the presence of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer.

The joy of the Lord is our strength and in His presence there is fullness of joy. The prophet Nehemiah said:
Then he said to them: Go, eat fat, and drink sweet wine, and send portions to those who have nothing prepared; because holy day is our Lord; do not be sad, for the joy of Jehovah is your strength.
Nehemiah 8:10 King James Version (RVR1960)
We need two important things to tackle life's everyday problems, and they are: strength and joy. Joy is the indispensable engine to propel the necessary forces into our spirit. Joy gives us the courage to move forward in the midst of difficulties. Joy flows from the presence of God and makes us face life's storms with great courage. Nehemiah said, "For the joy of Jehovah is your strength." The key to strengthening our spirit has to do with the joy that comes directly from being in communion with the Lord. This key was also taught by King David, when he said: "In his presence there is fullness of joy."
If we find ourselves troubled and distressed, the solution is to seek the face of the Lord, be it in prayer, in reading the word of God or singing psalms as King David used to.
In the world I mistakenly took refuge in alcohol, but once I received Christ, I understood that it is in the Lord where there is true joy and true strength to bravely face the different difficulties of life.

When the apostle Paul faced problems in the city of the Philippians, where they beat him, whipped him with a stick and then put him in a prison, the apostle Paul, together with his companion Silas, discovered that the key to finding strength to support and Overcoming the problem they were experiencing was singing to the Lord, who gave him encouragement and joy to seek enough strength and energy to sing, worship and praise; and thus experience the strength necessary for God to manifest himself with power and shake the place where he was and break the chains that bound him.
Paul and Silas experienced that the strength and courage for their soul was praising God, who gave them joy and enough strength to achieve victory in the midst of problems.

Finally, dear reader, in the midst of the storms of life, like the one we are currently experiencing, the important thing is to imitate those men who had the same or greater difficulties than us and overcame them by putting their trust in God and believing that the joy that it is from Jehovah that strengthens our spirit to emerge victorious in any setting of our lives.
