Walking on a Bed of Flowers... Hello Spring Ft. Our Compound of Daisies..
It's Spring guys!
Something I never thought I'd say since I come from a tropical continent. But being here in Europe now has got me accustomed to caring about the weather patterns, nearly to obsession even. I feel like I talk about the weather every day, I should stop.
Unfortunately though, even with as beautiful the weather we have now, we cannot fully experience it in lock-down. I am hoping things will open up on time for me to catch the beautiful spring flowers. I have seen how colorful it can get online, and even spotted a few places for amazing photos pre-quarantine.
In my house, it's already starting to get flooded with this beautiful flowers. I think Daisies they are called. Literally every step you take you step on some. I love it, it gives the place some positive vibes and it's a great mood uplifter.
There's also a couple more species sprouting out, in different colors too. Just lovely.
What is even more interesting about this particular flower is, at night, they close up and go to sleep. Plants really do have a life of their own.
I took a minute to google some sleeping daisy, and here is 2 that I came across.
Imagine that, some plants take naps too.
Today, the gardener came over for the routine grass cutting. Let's just say we couldn't have any of it. He might have to come back in a few weeks time. The kids here would be devastated to wake up to no flowers.
Fortunately, the management of this property is quite understanding and they let the compound remain as it is. Which means more time for us with this beautiful spread of flowers.
What Does the Flower Daisy Mean?
After learning the name of this flower, I was curious to know if it had a meaning and what most people associate it with, here's some interesting facts I came across.
Daisies symbolize innocence and purity. ... In Norse mythology, the daisy is Freya's sacred flower. Freya is the goddess of love, beauty, and fertility, and as such the daisy came by symbolize childbirth, motherhood, and new beginnings. Daisies are sometimes given to congratulate new mothers. Daisies are Forever
In Old English, daisies were referred to as “day’s eye” because at night the petals close over the yellow center and during the day they re-open. The phrase “as fresh as a daisy” originated from this, signifying that someone had a good night’s rest.
Isn't that just fascinating? I am certainly going to take time to enjoy being in the presence of this beauties. I don't know about you guys, but being in nature is one of my fave things to do. I hope you enjoyed this post.
