What does the Bible say about pride?
Pride is a property of the enormous love towards oneself. It may not be a problem to understand this concept. What is really difficult is to establish if we are suffering from this evil. It is easy to discover pride in others, but it is very difficult to manifest pride in ourselves. Knowing how pride manifests will help us identify it in our lives. Pride is declared in a vanity of personal achievements.
(Proverbs 8:13) And the kind of pride we feel about a job well done. The kind of pride that comes from self-justification is sin and God hates it because it is an obstacle to seeking Him.The proud are so full of themselves that their thoughts are far from GOD, the proud people only think about themselves, that is why they do not even think about the words of GOD.
Psalm 10: 4 "The wicked, because of the pride of his face, do not seek God; there is no God in any of his thoughts. "
People who are not proud are those who recognize that they need GOD, their words. On the other hand, people who are proud are arrogant and arrogant people, they also think that they know it all and that they will never need GOD. Or at worst, they consider that God must accept him as they are.
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 5: 3).
It must be taken into account that satan was cast out of heaven because of his pride, pride and arrogance, since he wanted to replace God Himself as the legitimate ruler of the universe.
Pride has disabled many people from recognizing Jesus Christ as their personal Savior. To decline to accept sin and show agreement that in our own strength we can do nothing to inherit eternal life, has been a stumbling block to proud people.
How to identify if we are proud?
Here are some examples presented by proud people: Are you a person who suckles for the things he has done in life? If the answer is positive then you are a proud person. Pride is also shown in an ambition to achieve positions of hierarchy. If you are that type of person who uses others as a ladder to ascend as high as possible, then you are a proud person. Pride also manifests itself in a predisposition to justify all the trips we make. Are you a person who always has a good reason for something bad that he did? Do you blame others for their mistakes? If so, then you are a proud person.
Pride is undoubtedly a sin, since this means taking credit to ourselves for something God has done. Pride takes the glory that belongs only to God and gives it to ourselves. Pride is in character a self-devotion. Whatever we had done in this world would not have been possible if God had not allowed us to execute. That is why we give glory to God because He alone deserves it.
