It Just another morning. I was up very early in the morning and had to go to work. The neighborhood was filled with the sounds and noises of cars and—people and children. Vendors were setting up their products to be sold throughout the day. All was as normal as could be until I heard a shattering, broken sound it was —a crash on the main road —and then there was crazy noises and people yelling from the streets. My heart was throbbing with irregular heart beat, and I moved towards the noise to know what actually had happened.

I moved closer and found a car, which was badly wrecked in a ghastly and sad accident. Six people were there in the vehicle—five people as passengers and the driver. They were heading towards a special occasion, as they later told us. The car was filled with lots of things for the celebration, including food and jerrycans of palm wine. So bad that their trip had not been as desired. The car lost its steering and ran into a roadblock barricade. The impact was so brutal that the car could hardly be identified, and its load was scattered all over the road.

The accident turned out to be more serious. Two of the boys in the vehicle were seriously injured, but the others had been fortunate enough to get away with some bruises. The driver was so scared , afraid and worried, not even able to understand what had happened. The cluster of neighbors were also close to the site of the accident now. You could sense tension and worry written on their faces at that moment.

They all came to help in a demonstration of love. Some run to help the boys who had been injured by the shock, wiping blood gingerly on the face and leg. Others collect lost items—put them in one place. They all gathered the food containers, and palm wine jerry cans which were lying everywhere. All of them yearned to help in one way or another.

A number of people came and assisted in collecting things and wherever required to assist. Among them came with water in a bucket and towels with which they could dress the wounds of the injured boys. All the neighbors who were present tried to console them until the time the medical team came. One of the neighbors with the phone number of a clinic nearby called the nearest clinic and briefed them on all that had transpired and asked them to hurry up and come to the location.

The boys who were injured were on the road, while others were sitting in a huddle, consoling and soothing them. It was one of those instances when it revealed to them how much human beings really cared, even about the ones whom they did not know. No one cared about asking them questions regarding their identity and origin country—so all they cared about was assisting them.

As the clinic was providing medical assistance, gradually the situation was put under control. Injured boys were evacuated for treatment. Water was brought and a seat was given to the passengers to stabilize their shock. Although it was a nightmare and a horrific accident, the response of the locality is definitely heart-warming. Police later came by after the crowd was dismissed. And the car was moved from the so that, big trucks and vehicles can pass by.

Looking back on the day, I was so grateful to have shared this life with this community. Our community confronted fear and anxiety in that moment with bold heart and courage minded. It was being reminded of how strong a community can be in unity—to love one another in times of crisis. It made me also aware of how suddenly life can end and how blessed we are to have the neighborhoods , and people on our lives who does care.

Unforseen circumstances are happening here and there but when it happens like this people are so worried about such development.
But I really appreciate the neighborhood coming out to show love and comfort by putting helping hands to make sure those victims are rescued and also taken to hospital for treatment
