Has it died?
The light that lived behind my eyes, Everything about me that Sparks and shines?
Killing me slowly with your White lies
Clawing and crawling at my insides
Anger begging to rise
To the tip of very sharp knives
The choice to die or stay alive
A second attempt after you survive
To regain what was lost
But what's the cost?
Has it died?
The light that lived behind my eyes, Everything about me that Sparks and shines?
Can I regain what can't be grasped
Try to change or accept the past
Be filled with a love for life and inspiration
To be able to feel elation
Instead of self hatred and deprecation
Depression leading to desolation
It's said that suffering let's you know your alive
Anguish begins to rise
To the tips of very sharp knives
The choice to die or stay alive
The choice I'll make every time
A third attempt after you survive
To find what keeps you here another day
Some light to chase the darkness away.

I know this poem is just a bit dark but, I hope somebody enjoys it ❤

Sort:

The metre in the middle does a good job of conveying a more hysterical feel and the relentless use of rhyme actually works because of your dedication and lack of fear to repeat words to rhyme. You do it skillfully by adding some spacing between the repetition of words. Additionally though, the repetition around

Depression leading to desolation

does a good job to tie the whole cyclical nature of these emotions together. Thanks for sharing your poetry! Hang in there bud :)
