ACHIEVEMENT 3 : CONTENT ETIQUETTE by @emy2018
Hello great steemians... Today I am writing on Content Etiquette (achievement3), from the post of @cryptokannon on content etiquette, i can say that i have understood the content etiquette of the steemit platform.
What is Plagiarism?
stealing another person knowledge and taking credit for it . I also learnt that plagiarism is ultering someone else work, photo, etc and making it your own. It is a criminal action and it is very wrong. In steemit it is not allowed and can be punished when you are found guilty of it.
The practice of taking someone else's work or ideas and passing them off as one's own. source
What are the different types of plagiarism?
We have many types of plagiarism, i will be explaning few that i learnt.
Mosaic plagiarism: when a newcomer uses words from another person out of ignorance without using reference marks. And also when a newcomer uses words that are similar with the meaning of an author words and same arrangement, meaning of the content. That is mosaic plagiarism.
Direct plagiarism: when you copy a content just as the author wrote it without referencing the author. Some people copy everything, exactly others words. This one is known as direct plagiarism.
Global plagiarism
This is when you copy someone's text from their publication without referencing them. It is a crime if you add it to your post.
- Self-plagiarism: when you as the author had previously submitted your work on steemit and you still post the same post again repeatedly, that is called self-plagiarism.
- Accidental plagiarism: failure to put site, source or qouting wrongly something said by an author .
Significances of plagiarism
This is an offense which attracts lots of punishment. you will keep lossing your reputation which will also attract low ratinge. If anyone is found guilty of plagiarism numerous times, you will be muted by the community leaders.
I will advise that we all post only things that are original, this means that we should be postingour own works and not other people own, including pictures.
It will really help in earning you a good reputation and lots of support from communities, followers and curators.
How to Avoid Plagiarism
From my explanation and understanding on plagiarism, we all know that plagiarism is not good and everyone should try to avoided it.
Cite your source: never forget to put your source below the idea gotten from another person no matter the language used, always remember to add citation.
Always include quotations: making use of quotations mark in citations shows that a statement is not yours and will help you stay out of plagiarism trouble.
presenting your own idea: make a habit to be original, instead of constantly using citation and use of quotation marks, your ideas are wellcomed in this platform.
Procrastination: Do not wait for the last minute rush to submitan assignment, achievements, contest because you will end up plagiaring another person's work so that you can meet up with time.
Self confidence : trust your self that you can do better, never feel some other persons work is better than yours.
If you ever have the need to post an image from the internet, you should not forget to put the image source by citing it just below the image.
I leart that there are free images that have been provided by some websites .
such website is listed below:
conclusion
In conclusion, everyone need to make sure that he/she take time to make a quality content post using original photos and writing his/her own idea and concept of everything.
