Today I want to share with you this great project that came to my place of work which consists of making a complete change of paint to a vehicle

el día de hoy quiero compartir con ustedes este gran proyecto que llegó a mi lugar de trabajo el cual consiste en realizar un cambio de pintura total a un a un vehículo

Despite being a car of the year, customers requested to change the original color for a yellow color since what they want is to turn the car into a taxi

a pesar de tratarse de un auto del año los clientes solicitaron cambiarle el color original por un color amarillo ya que lo que pretenden es convertir el auto en un taxi

This is done in this way because the country's regulations require that cars that provide private transportation service be identified by the color yellow and by cooperatives

Esto se hace de esta manera porque las regulaciones del país requieren que los automóviles que brindan servicios de transporte privado sean identificados por el color amarillo y por las cooperativas

It is for this reason that this time we as a work team are going to take care of transforming this car and turning it into a taxi, our job in this case is to simply change the color of the car since it is completely new

es por esa razón que en esta oportunidad nosotros como equipo de trabajo nos vamos a encargar de transformar este auto y convertirlo en un taxi,nuestro trabajo en este caso consiste en simplemente cambiarle el color al auto ya que el mismo está completamente nuevo

Despite this, it does not mean that it is a simple project; it really requires a lot of work and a lot of effort to achieve the results we want

A pesar de esto, no significa que sea un proyecto simple; Realmente requiere mucho trabajo y mucho esfuerzo para lograr los resultados que queremos

We started this project by separating some important parts of the car, I mean the rear view mirrors, the antenna, the door rubbers, among other things, the idea is that these parts do not hinder us when applying the paint

Comenzamos este proyecto separando algunas partes importantes del automóvil, me refiero a los espejos retrovisores, la antena, las gomas de las puertas, entre otras cosas, la idea es que estas partes no nos obstaculicen al aplicar la pintura

To get to this point we first had to sand the car completely. We did this for a reason and it is because it is necessary to remove the shine from the original paint. In this way, the surface remains adherent due to having passed the sandpaper. And this helps us to have much more adherence between the surface and the new paint that we are going to apply

Para llegar a este punto, primero tuvimos que lijar el automóvil por completo. Lo hicimos por una razón y es porque es necesario eliminar el brillo de la pintura original. De esta manera, la superficie permanece adherente debido a que ha pasado el papel de lija. Y esto nos ayuda a tener mucha más adherencia entre la superficie y la nueva pintura que vamos a aplicar

Of course the car has to be completely clean so that there is no contamination whatsoever when applying the paint

Por supuesto, el automóvil debe estar completamente limpio para que no haya contaminación alguna al aplicar la pintura

Generally these are relatively fast projects, although this is because the accumulated experience we have makes the processes a little easier

En general, estos son proyectos relativamente rápidos, aunque esto se debe a que la experiencia acumulada que tenemos hace que los procesos sean un poco más fáciles

The process consists of sanding, washing, covering with paper what we do not want to stain and finally applying the paint

El proceso consiste en lijar, lavar, cubrir con papel lo que no queremos manchar y finalmente aplicar la pintura

Each process must be carried out in the best possible way, because this will have a great impact on the final result of the project. That is why it is important to perform a very good sanding to ensure that there will be a very adhesion between the products that we are going to apply

Cada proceso debe llevarse a cabo de la mejor manera posible, ya que esto tendrá un gran impacto en el resultado final del proyecto. Es por eso que es importante realizar un lijado muy bueno para garantizar que haya una gran adhesión entre los productos que vamos a aplicar

Similarly, it is important to have the car completely clean and dry. Since if you have small amounts of water hidden between the pieces, this could come out when painting and ruin the paint, that is why to avoid this type of problem we apply pressurized air with the help of a compressor to remove all the water that is not in sight

De igual manera es importante tener el auto completamente limpio y seco. Ya que si tiene pequeñas cantidades de agua ocultas entres las piezas, está podría salir al momento de pintar y arruinaría la pintura, es por eso que para evitar este tipo de problemas aplicamos aire a presión con la ayuda de un compresor para sacar toda el agua que no está a la vista

And then it is necessary to start covering the parts of the car with paper that we are not going to paint yellow, this process is vital to guarantee that the final result is as expected. It is very important that its realization is done taking the necessary time to affect it in the best possible way

Y luego es necesario comenzar a cubrir con papel las partes del auto que no vamos a pintar de amarillo, este proceso es vital para garantizar que el resultado final sea el esperado. Es muy importante que su realización se haga tomando el tiempo necesario para afectarlo de la mejor manera posible

Each process takes time and all are of great importance, so when we had everything covered with paper, it was time to start applying the car paint to cover the color little by little. The idea is quite simple, we only apply several layers of paint until the yellow color completely covers the car parts

Cada proceso lleva su tiempo y todos son de gran importancia, así que cuando ya teníamos todo cubierto con papel era el momento de comenzar aplicar la pintura del auto para ir cubriendo el color poco a poco. La idea es bastante simple, sólo aplicamos varias capas de pintura hasta que el color amarillo cubra completamente las piezas de auto

Between each layer of paint we apply, we wait 10 minutes for one layer to dry before applying the other on top, that way we make sure that the paint is in the best possible way

Entre cada capa de pintura que aplicamos nosotros esperamos 10 minutos para que se seque una capa antes de aplicar la otra encima, de esa manera nos aseguramos de que la pintura quede de la mejor manera posible

After painting it is time to apply the varnish, this is a product that gives shine to the paint. And like paint, this product is liquid and that is why we need the help of an air compressor and a paint gun to apply it

Luego de la pintura es momento de aplicar el barniz, este ves un producto que le da el brillo a la pintura. Y al igual que la pintura este producto es líquido y por eso que para aplicarlo necesitamos la ayuda de un compresor de aire y una pistola de pintar

Each process takes time and each product has a drying period, in this case the varnish lasts around 24 hours to dry. So after that time elapsed we were able to remove the papers that the car had and we began to assemble the parts that we disassembled at first, after approximately 3 hours we already have the car fully armed

Cada proceso lleva su tiempo y cada producto tiene un periodo de secado, en este caso el barniz dura alrededor de 24 horas para poder secarse. Así que después que transcurrió ese tiempo pudimos retirar los papeles que tenia el auto y comenzamos a armar las partes que desmontamos en un inicio, luego de aproximadamente 3 horas ya tenemos el auto completamente armado

We wash it and this is how it looks now

Lo lavamos y así es como se ve ahora

We met our goal, this project is completely finished and it looks amazing thanks to the fact that the yellow color stands out a lot and it also looks great with the original black parts it has

Cumplimos nuestro objetivo, este proyecto está completamente terminado y se ve increíble gracias a que el color amarillo resalta bastante y además se ve muy bien con las partes negras originales que tiene

It is a great change for this car and I have no doubts that we are going to meet the expectations of the clients, for me it is a pleasure to have been able to share with you this great project and I hope you liked it

Es un gran cambio para este auto y no tengo dudas que vamos a cumplir con las expectativas de los clientes, para mí es un gusto haber podido compartir con ustedes este gran proyecto y espero que les haya gustado

Now we just had to clean it and leave it completely spotless so that its owners can see how beautiful it is
