No One Can Save You From Yourself
You can find out a lot about people just by looking at their behavior. Observing people and situations can help you understand them better, even if you don't approve of their actions.
Actions And Reactions
Freedom is not just a word in the dictionary, it's part of our life, or better yet, it's part of some people's life as others are not free. When your freedom is affected, you do everything to get it back, especially those who's freedom has been restricted before. Those people are used to breaking the rules, cutting corners and do everything in their power to obtain what they want.
The covid-19 pandemic has constrained many governments around the world to constrain people's freedom. This came as a shock for those who has never been constrained before.
I know first hand how it feels like when your freedom is limited, you're not allowed to do a lot of things. It sucks and should never happen to anyone, anywhere.
However, during this crazy pandemic, most of the restrictions were created in order to protect you and your family, except for those that are stupid and serve only one purpose, which is to help some people get richer. It happened in some countries where alcohol and cigarettes sales (maybe other products too) were banned, so high ranking officials could get rich by selling these products five times the normal price.
But let's get back to the what I wanted to say. The restrictions were mandatory, but even without them people should have understood the severeness of the situation, protect themselves and others. That didn't happen and we're where we are. The number of infections is rising, the death toll is rising too. Most of the restrictions were lifted, just a few are still necessary, among which is the wearing a mask in shops, offices etc.
Yesterday I went grocery shopping to a nearby grocery shop, where both the cashier and the shop keeper were working without a mask. I stopped in front of the counter and waited for the shop assistant to finish what she was doing, keeping my distance obviously. When she noticed my present, she turned to me asking what I'd like. The situation annoyed me a lot, so I asked her if the mask is mandatory only for us buyers or for them as well. I was ironic obviously, but this was not the first time I saw her without a mask, so something needed to be done.
She didn't expect a comment like that, so to cover her embarrassment, she asked me what can she get me. Put on your mask I said and waited till she put on her mask.

I wish people could realize it's not the government they should be angry at and would act responsibly. To protest against the rules by breaking them will bring only more trouble in this case as the enemy is the virus, not the government. They should understand that the faster we get rid of this invisible enemy, the sooner we can return to the life we had before.
The other scene I saw was in front of the hospital entrance. Unfortunately I've been there three times the past week and have seen the same scene each time. People crowded in front of the gate, some with mask, others without and social distancing was nowhere to be seen, as if the threat would not exist anymore, or not for them.
Looks like some people really don't understand anything. Restrictions, warnings are useless, they just don't care, putting themselves at risk and others too.
The Same People Everywhere
I see this kind of behavior everywhere, including Hive. I've been here since January 2018, been part of different curation projects but even without that, you can see the difference between users. Some have an exemplary behavior, trying to build something here with hard work, while others are here for their selfish interest, doing everything in their power to ear as much as they can, even if that means breaking every possible written and unwritten rule.
They don't care about the future of the chain or the community. They can't see the possibilities we have here, the potential of the platform and the chance we have to build the most amazing place for ourselves. Their only concern is their selfish goal.
