Potatoes Galore! Harvest My First Potatoes

Its that time of the year, the end of the first harvest for potatoes in my area. I've planted around four of them and I got back about seventeen! Luckily, I harvested them before it got really hot outside in this humid Florida climate.

This was a pretty great learning experience considering this is my first time growing potatoes from seed potato to harvest. I've learned a lot, and made a minor mistake such as not leaving the soil fluffy and loose enough so that the potatoes could grow a bit larger but that's OK. I'm still pretty impressed with the amount that we harvested!

As you can see, I did harvest them a little later than I should have. The greenery was already dying off, so it was a minor miscalculation on my part, however, I'm still learning to get things right. I'll be planting more potatoes soon when I've got more seed potatoes ready. Over time, I know I'll get better and better at doing this. All it takes is a bit of reading, lots of waiting and some good practice to increase yields. We'll see how well I perform next time. This has truly got me excited!
