Cyrene, Libya
Cyrene now days called Shahhat was an ancient Greek colony founded in the period from 8th–6th centuries BC and a Roman city . the location of the city is in northeastern Libya in North Africa. The city was part of what was called ( the a very famous group of five cities in the region of North Africa and gave the area its traditional and early modern name, Cyrenaica. Also, it is worth to that Cyrene is located on a ridge of the mountain Jebel Akhdar .
The archaeological parts of the old city cover hundreds of hectares and include several temples like the Temple of Zeus, theatres, and churches. The city is surrounded by the Necropolis of Cyrene it is a place for tombs. Cyrene has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1982. There is a famous port called Apollonia Nowadays, it is called (Marsa Sousa), located about 16 kilometers to the north of the city.
