Ramadan is the month number 9 in the Islamic calendar. Fasting is mandatory for Muslims (except children, the sick and pregnant women) . Fasting begins every day from morning to evening. There are two main meals a day, the breakfast called( AL Eftar), at which everyone must break their fast. The second meal is (Al Sohour) before the fast begins. The main feature of Ramadan is family gatherings and reunion, especially during AL Eftar. Below are some traditional AL Eftar meals served at our home.

AL Eftar Starter

Dates

Dates are commonly used throughout the Islamic world to break the fast. Breaking your fast with dates is extremely useful because dates are one of the most energy-giving foods, making them ideal for the body muscles after a long day of fasting. It is usually served with fresh, cold milk.

Red vegetable soup.

one of the most healthy options is a bowl of red vegetable soup . Normally is served with most popular vegetables like carrots, onions ,potatoes, parsley and tomatoes which provide the red color .

Main dish.

Bashamelly (Baked Pasta).

This special dish is everyone's favorite and is almost always eaten at family celebrations and gatherings. This pasta dish is usually made with penne shaped pasta, a minced meat mixture and a creamy Bashamelly sauce. (Macrona Bashamelly ) is made by layering the ingredients on each other, putting at the top a layer rich of creamy Bashamelly sauce, then baking them in the oven at moderate temperature until it got the golden color .

Desserts.

Rice B Laban.

This cold milk dessert is very famous and popular throughout the Islamic world . The rice pudding is quite simple to prepare, but extremely tasty and delicious. Made with white rice, milk and sugar, almost anyone can easily make Rice B Laban at home without much experience or expense. After you have prepared the rice pudding base, a top layer of coconut flakes, mixed nuts and cinnamon is added

Konafa

Konafa is a traditional Libyan sweet. Although it can be found in bakeries and shops around the year . it has a special taste in Ramadan. Made from crumbled layers of dough with a filling full of cream and nuts. Konafa is considered as the best crunchy desserts in Ramadan.
