Hello stemians and Latino community excited to participate in this contest most especially for the month of April

So here we are—April. Can you believe it? I’ve been sitting with my thoughts a lot lately, thinking about how the year has moved so far and where I find myself now. March came and went in a flash. I had all these ideas in my head about what it would be like… some of them happened, some didn’t. That’s life, right? You plan, and then life gently (or not so gently) reminds you it has its own script.

Now that April has arrived, everything feels a bit more personal to me. April 26th is my birthday, and every year when this month rolls around, there’s this feeling in the air—like the month is softly whispering, “Hey, this one’s for you.” It’s not even about throwing a party or doing something grand (though cake is always welcome), but more about reflection. Birthdays always make me pause. I find myself looking back at where I was this time last year, what I’ve learned, and what I’m still figuring out. Spoiler: there’s a lot I’m still figuring out.

One thing I am sure of, though, is this heat. April came in blazing, and I don’t know about you, but the temperatures have been wild lately. I’ve been trying to stay cool—drinking water like it’s a part-time job, staying in the shade, and honestly just moving slower. The heat doesn’t just affect the body, it affects the mood too. I’ve had days where all I wanted to do was lie down and do absolutely nothing—and I think that’s okay. Not every day has to be productive. Sometimes surviving the heat is enough.

This month isn’t just about my birthday, though. Holy Week is also coming up, and it always brings this quiet, sacred feeling with it. I’m not planning anything big travel-wise, but I’m hoping for some peaceful time with family. Maybe a bit of silence, maybe some prayer, or just unplugging from the noise of daily life. Even if you’re not deeply religious, I think Holy Week has this energy that invites stillness, which is rare and special.

Apart from that, I’ve got a few goals on my mind for this month. Nothing huge or overwhelming—just small steps. I want to write more (which this post is a part of), take care of my health a little better, and check in with myself more often. Sometimes we rush through the days and forget to ask ourselves the simplest things—like “How are you, really?” I want April to be about slowing down and listening. Listening to my body, my thoughts, and the little nudges from life that often go unnoticed.

I’m also really curious—how’s April treating you so far? Are there any dates this month that hold meaning for you? Any birthdays, anniversaries, or moments you're looking forward to? Or maybe you’re like me, just taking it day by day, trying to stay cool and centered in this heat.

I think one of the nicest things about a new month is the chance to reset. Even if nothing dramatic changes, there's this psychological freshness that comes with flipping the calendar page. It’s a chance to try again, to dream a little differently, or to simply breathe.

So here’s to April. To sunshine, slow days, birthday cake, quiet reflections, and small victories. Whatever this month brings—whether it’s joy, challenge, or something in between—I hope we all find a way to move through it with grace.
