TEACH MY HANDS THE USE OF THE SWORD

The wise preacher wrote in :

Ecclesiastes 3:1,8

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: vs 1
A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace. Vs 8

Jesus warned his disciples of coming conflicts and admonished them on how to prepare and confront them.

A man that is conscious of life's seasons must be strategic. The spiritual man understands seasons and their peculiar challenges.

Jesus once sent his disciples out without purse, scrip and shoes.

Luke 9:3

And he said unto them, Take nothing for your journey, neither staves, nor scrip, neither bread, neither money; neither have two coats apiece. Vs 3

But now he told them to go only with those things but to buy swords if they do not have any.

Sword is so important that he told whoever that does not have, to sell his garment and buy.

Jesus here was speaking like Joel in

Joel 3:9-10,

Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up: Vs 9
Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong. Vs 10

Though the disciples took it to be physical swords, it is not. What Jesus did and said when few hours later one of them used one of their two swords on a servant of high priest confirms that the warfare is not physical but spiritual

Luke 22:51

And Jesus answered and said, Suffer ye thus far. And he touched his ear, and healed him. Vs 51

2Corinthians 10:4 says :

For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) Vs 4

You need the sword of the Spirit - the word of God and the whole armour of God to stand against the wiles of the devil

Ephesians 6:11

Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Vs 11

PRAYER

Lord, beyond having the sword, teach my hands the use of the sword and to war on to victory at every battle front of life.
