At the moment, Vologda river has been cleared of ice, although a few days ago I still observed local icebreakers in some areas. Only the Kubena in the Mouth area remains uncovered...and it could happen at any minute.

There are almost never powerful and spontaneous ice breakers on this river – the river is small and there is no power due to the minimal slope.

Ice often melts on the surface of the water in the riverbed, without waiting for destruction.

But what often happens is that the water level rises after the opening of the river from the ice.

There is a lot of water this year, which almost reaches critical values.

I like to photograph the river with ice during the evening golden light.

The river sinks into shadow, and all objects are illuminated in yellow-orange tones.

The result is a great color contrast.

In the Kremlin Garden, the ice usually lasts a long time because of the stagnant water.
