Gymnocalycium baldianum finally in bloom!steemCreated with Sketch.

I did not expect to see such gorgeous cherry red flower! And it is so big comparing to the cactus too. For now I only have one flower open out of the two buds. The other one is a little smaller, and will need a few more days.

I was showing the buds in this post. Time for some pretty, sparkly petals.
I wonder if any of the cacti I own has fragrant flowers. I keeps smelling the, but there is nothing there.

I keep this one all together with his buddies on my balcony. They get the rain and the sun and I didn't. This Gymoncalyciums seems to me more resilient to hot sun. I have another one that doesn't like it so much (also with lots of buds now).
Now that I look at the photos I think I should give him a little bit more water. He is still very shriveled. The flowers must drain a lot of energy from this little body.

I really like the photo. Can this plant be grown indoors? How much light does it need?

Thank you :)
Yes it can. But it does need a lot of light especially in growing season (Spring-fall). It also likes some direct sun. So any very bright and sunny windowsill will do :)

@ewkaw love the red cactus flower. Looks like you have kept it happy.

I sure hope this is his way to say "thank you".
