Introduction

It was May 19 2018 when eSteem Surfer the first desktop app was released with version 1 and it was introduced by @good-karma. It was actually a day of revolution in steem blockchain because the first desktop client for steem has been launched.Release is available for Windows, MAC OS and Linux from day one.
I am using this app since its birth and still using in my windows OS supported laptop just downloaded the current version 2.05 hence i know about it deeply.

Some of my best friends knocked me and told to make a blog cum tutorial of esteem surfer desktop app hence i decided to write down about this awesome app today only.

Why you should use esteem surfer?

An app which is fully loaded with all useful features which were only possible earlier for browser users but now this app is giving all of those. The PIN enable security feature provides you an extra layer of security because it is mandatory to enter in every launch hence it is reliable too. Apart prom security feature it is 100% user friendly and very easy to use. In this section i will try to elaborate about all its important features along with process to use those.

I will try to explain every feature in easy way so that you can understand it easily. I have chosen profile page here and have marked every important feature with numeric numbers such as 1,2,3..etc and i will describe every feature one by one. I have divided the profile page in two parts. I divided in two parts because all features were not coming in one snap.

• Part-1

Hope you have seen the above snap carefully and the numbers written there so now i am going to elaborate numberwise.

• Number-1 : You can use this feature to change the theme which is also known as night mode feature. When you click on it the theme will change and screen will become become black.

• Number-2 : You can use this feature to reset the settings such as currency setting, language setting or server setting.

• Number-3 : This feature is indicating you that you have some rewards in pending mode and you should claim that.

• Number-4 : This feature aware you of every activities whatever is related to your post or your profile such as upvote, reblog, follow, mention etc. you can refer below image too..

As you can see on above image there are two separate sections under the activities feature the fist one is All activities and the second one is Leaderboard.

In leaderboard section you can see the top users of esteem app (desktop or mobile).

• Number-5 : This feature helps you to change the blog listing look from row to column. Basically in home page all blog are listing one by one means in a row the latest blog on top but if you use this feature the default look will get change to columnwise. Please refer below image.

• Number-6 : This feature helps you to search any old blog, users as well as content. you can say it steem search engine. When you click on search symbol you will have to enter the keywords of content. You can see refer below image for more understanding. After entering your keywords it will produce all available content relevant to your keywords.

• Number-7 : This feature is used to refresh the profile page.

• Number-8 : This the most important section of this app and for every users too so this section is going to be little longer than other.

After clicking on Create post tab you will have a page like as below :

Section-A of composition section :

There are total 11 useful feature in formatting bar under section A which are as below with little descriptions:

• The first from left side is used to write text in bold.
• The second one is used to write text in italic.
• The third one is used for heading (heading2, heading3 and heading4).
• The fourth one is used for code, you can use this feature if you know the html codes.
• The fifth one is used to write something in quoted format like as below:

• The sixth one is is used to write something in ordered list such as

2. item2
3. item3

• The seventh one is used to write something like as :

• item1

• item2

• item3
  You have to replace the item1, item2 with your words.

• The number 8 is used to link an url. You can use this feature to indicate the external link, click on that and you will have a format like as below:
  I use it in this way source, in first bracket i written source and in second bracket past the link.

• Number 9 is used to upload photo. You can use this in two way:
  step-1 : Click on the icon and choose upload then select the photo you want to upload then press ok.
  Step-2 : Open the folder where you photos are stored then select one or more then drag those and drop in your composition area. You can upload more than one photos in one shot. Multi photos uploading feature is only available in esteem surfer.

• Number-10 : You can use this if you want to write a blog in column format, better you can see the below format.

• The last one means number 11th is used for emojies.

Section B, C, D, E, F & G

• Section B is used to change reward payout such as 50%/50% to Power up 100%.

• Section C is used to delete all texts and images from editor or compostion field including tag and title.

• Section D is use for scheduling post. If you want that your post should publish in future means two hours later then you can give instruction to this app by using this feature.

• Section E is used to save your blog.

• Section F is used to publish your post.

• Section G is to show the voting power and RC strength.

Now come back to profile page part-1 once again because number 9 feature is awaiting there.

• Number 9 feature of profile page part-1:
  This section is also going to little large so please read carefully..
  The number 9 is wallet section where you can check your available steem, SBD, Steem power and history of transations. Apart from normal features esteem surfer giving you some more features which are only possible if you use browser and those are as below:

1. Transfer : You can use this feature if want to transfer some steem to other users or exchange and to complete this you need only 4 digits PIN. Just click on transfer tab and enter the user name to whom you want to send and amount then click on send and enter the PIN to complete the transfer process.

1. It has the feature which alows you to transfer you steem in savings also.
2. You can easily easily power up by converting your steem in easy steps. You can see my older tutorial how to power up using esteem surfer from here

Apart from power up there is one more useful feature too and that is delgation feature.

As you can see on the ablove image that i have clicked on a drop down just beside of steem power and there is a tab as delegate. Just click on that and delegate some SPs to antother users easily.

Enter the username first then use the slider to set the SP amount and follow the on screen instruction to complete the process.

Profile Page part-2

First look at below snap:

Hope you are looking number 10, 11 & 12 and their description are as below;

• Number-10 : Using this feature you can upvote your favourite witness directly so now you need not to first login with steemconnect and then upvote the favourite witness.

Just click on witness link then you will have witnesses page in few seconds from where you can upvote your favrourite witness. In first page you will have 10 witnesses list so if you want to see more witnesses but upto 50 only then you need to click on number 2, number 3 so on please look right side down. Please have a look at below images to understand clearly:

If the witness is out of 50 posittion then you will have to search them by their username. Please look below images carefully where i have highlited some featues. you can understand easily.

• Number-11 : Already Covered.

• Number-12 : You can use this if you want to read FAQ or know more about this app.

How to download & choose proper installation file?

I know many of them were facing the difficulties to choose exact installation file for their laptop or desktop so i have arranged snaps of every needful steps please look carefully..

Steps-1 : Open browser in your laptop or desktop and type https://esteem.app/ in address bar then press enter key after that you will have the home page of esteem app where you have to click on Download now.

Step-2 : After clicking on download now you will have another page and here you will have to choose Desktop because you need installation file of desktop only this time.

Step-3 : After clicking on desktop you will be redirect to github website where all versions of esteem surfer are available in latest to older series. Like as:

I have marked two instillation files which are mainly used by people the first one is for MAC OS and second one is for Windows OS. Just click any one according to your device OS, as you click on installation file link you will have a prompt message and here you can choose either Run or Save better to choose Run then open the download folder and double click on it and follow the instructions one by one. After installation completion you will have to enter your steem user name and posting key or you can login using steemconnect. After login the app will say you to enter PIN for security purpose and you will have to remember it always. After successful installation and configuration you will have a page like as below:

Just enter the PIN you have entered during installation & Configuration then you will have below page which is actually default page of this app:

I was logged already hence my profile image is appearing but in your case there will be a black circle shape only. To login you will have to click on black circle first then you can see the login option as showing in below image:
