Clara was in the kitchen when she heard her name, she went to the sitting room.
Clara : Yes mum
Helen : The money I kept in my room is missing, do you know anything about it.
Clara : No mum, I've not gone into your room today.
sansa : she's lying. I saw her sneak into your room today, i followed her and I know where she kept the money.
Clara : liar. I didn't take any money.
Sansa led her mum and Clara to Clara's room, she raised the mattress up, lo and behold the money was there.
Clara : Mum, Sansa stole the money and put it there, 'cause I don't know anything about it.
Sansa : Mum, I'm your daughter you know I won't lie to you, she's not your daughter don't believe her.
Before Clara could understand what Sansa had just said, Helen began to beat her, Clara kept begging but Helen wouldn't listen.
The next day.
Clara : Sansa, what did you mean when you said "she's not your daughter".
Sansa : You are not my sister. You were adopted.
Clara was in shock, she asked her dad about it later that day and he told her everything which made her depressed.
Sansa kept stealing and framing Clara which made Clara receive beating from their mum on a daily basis. Sansa's actions made Helen hate Clara so much that she punished her almost every day.
All Clara wished for was to gain admission into the university so she could leave the house and her wish came to pass. She gained admission into the university of lagos Nigeria, she was excited and Nelson was also happy when he heard the news.
One faithful day, they were all in the living room when they heard a disturbing noise in the compound, before they could check out what was happening three armed robbers entered the house through the back door which was open.
The armed robbers took all their money and valuables, as they were about to leave one of the robbers spotted Clara at one corner of the living room, he gave the other two a signal and they went after Clara, one held her hands while the other held her legs, they were about to rape her, when Nelson tried to save her he was shot.
Robber 1 : Why did you shoot him?
Robber 2 : He tried to interfere.
Robber 3 : The gunshot will attract the police. We have to get out of here.
Robber 2 : What about the girl?
Robber 1 : Leave the girl there's no time for that.
They were able to escape before the police got there. Nelson was rushed to the hospital but he died.
Nelson was buried within weeks and things became quite hard for the family, Helen blamed Clara for the death of her husband.
Clara : Mum, it's almost a month now since my school resumed. I need to pay my fees and resume as soon as possible.
Helen : I am not your mother and why should I train you after you killed my husband.
Clara : (crying) I didn't kill dad, the robbers shot him.
Helen : if he hadn't tried to save you, he would still be alive. He should have let them rape you.
Clara ran to her room crying. Living in the house became unbearable, she did all the house chores and had little to eat, she became a maid and was forbidden to ever leave the house unless being sent on an errand.
After Helen and her daughter Sansa had left the house Clara brought out her phone which she has been hiding to avoid Helen from taking it from her. She logged into Facebook and was going through her wall when she stumbled on a post from her aunt Mia.
Mia had lost contact with her brother since she traveled to London with her husband and son. Clara sent her aunt a message and they began to chat, Mia was really happy to hear from her niece but was sad and disappointed when she heard all that has been happening, she promised to help Clara.
Days later.
Clara brought out her phone again which was her usual routine whenever she was home alone, there was a message from her aunt "A friend of mine has a son who is planning to come to London, his name is Raymond, I spoke to him and he has agreed to help you. All you have to do is try to leave the house by 2 O'clock tomorrow and meet him at The glitters hotel, room 115, he will help you process your papers and bring you to London. Please be careful, aunt Mia loves you. "
Clara was so excited, she did all her chores with joy.
The next day finally came, she was waiting for Helen and Sansa to leave the house so she could get ready to leave.
Clara succeeded in running away from the house , she meet with Raymond and after her papers were ready, they both left for London.
Helen tried to find Clara but all her efforts were to no avail. Her daughter Sansa was so lazy she did nothing in the house.
At 15, all Sansa did was party, she comes home late at night and no amount of advice given to her by her mother changed her behavior.
At this point, Helen began to regret her actions and wished she could take back the hands of time.
Helen was deep in thought when her phone rang, she answered the call.
Helen : Hello. Who is this?
caller : Is this Mrs Helen?
Helen : Yes
caller : Your daughter Sansa was just rushed to heritage hospital.
Helen rushed to the hospital and she was told that her daughter had tried to abort a baby.
Doctor : She took some harmful substance to abort the baby, it affected her system badly. She died on her way to the hospital.
Helen cried, she had lost everything, her husband, daughter and her adopted child Clara who was always sweet to her.
If I had not pampered Sansa, I would still have a child now, if I had not treated Clara badly, I would still have a child now. I had two lovely daughters, all I had to do was love them equally but I failed and now my fate is to suffer alone. I authored my own FATE.

Good ending to your story, @faetee! I had no idea what direction it was going to take. Helen learned the hardest lesson of all.
