Nazrul in Comilla

Poet Tirtha Daulatpur, the poet of the national poet Kazi Nazrul and his wife Nargis, remembered the place. In 1921 (Bangla 23 Chaitra 1327), Nazrul Islam came to Daulatpur of Muradnagar under Comilla and stayed for 71 days. Nazrul wrote 160 songs and 120 poems in Daulatpur. Among the notable poems are 'Pyaadna-Havman', 'Abella', 'AnaVishta', 'Parthik Priya', 'Biday Bella' etc.

Comilla has glorified the walk of the poet. Until 1924, the poet came to Comilla five times. In this 5 times he spend more than 11 months in Comilla city and Daulatpur of Muradnagar upazila of the district.

The first time was on 8 July. The second time came in November 1921, until December. In Comilla, Kabir first came in the village of Daulatpur of Muradnagar upazila. This village is known by the poet Ali Akbar Khan, who was known to the poet. Syeda Nargis Ara Khanam, daughter of poet Ali Akbar Khan's sister, got married on June 17 of the same year. Which was the first marriage of his life.

But for unknown reasons, the poet Basar left Daulatpur and came to Comilla city on the night. While staying in the city of Indokumar Sen's house, Ashalata Sengupta alias Pramila was the only daughter of her brother Girija Devi, and was married in Kolkata on April 25, 1924. In November 1921 he was arrested in Comilla for singing anti-British songs in Comilla. On 23 November 1922, the poet was arrested for the second time from Jawantla town. The last poet came to Comilla for the fifth and last time, after being released from prison on 16 December 1923.

Nazrul Avenue named after the Deputy Commissioner of Comilla Abu Jafar Obaidullah Kandirpar-Dharmpur Railway Station, 1962. In 1983, the plaque was set up in the memorial sites of Kabir with the help of the then Deputy Commissioner Syed Aminur Rahman and financial assistance from the district council.
