My Introduction to Steemit
Introduce Myself
I'll tell you about my history in a second, but I wanted to tell you why I'm excited about Steemit. I've been active on Twitter and as a writer in the fantasy football community for a while now. While 99% of the fantasy football community is amazing, I've started seeing a spike in negativity and metric territorialism. I've also seen that once certain metrics or information becomes popular, it gets sent behind a paywall. I have no problem with people capitalizing and making a living off of their hard work, but I like the idea of providing free insights and getting rewarded for the quality of the content. You can make your cake and have it too on steemit!
About Me
I am a loving husband, father, and a former navy nuclear engineer turned Surface Warfare Officer.
I enlisted in the Navy right after 9/11 and became an enlisted nuclear engineer. I was selected into an officer program and completed my degree in Manufacturing Engineering Technology at The University of Memphis. I became a Surface Warfare Officer and completed two deployments onboard the USS McInerney(good chance I was driving the ship during this pic with Firescout landing):
and another deployment on the USS Gettysburg:
Following my two sea tours, I took an assignment in my hometown of Buffalo, NY. I had some amazing experiences in the navy, but 7+ months at sea per year was just not what I wanted to do with a family so I decided to separate in 2012. I just didn't want to spend so much time away from my kids and miss photo ops like this one from today:
I had spent so much time at sea that I lost touch with the goings-on in the NFL. As a way to get back into football, I started listening to fantasy football podcasts(normally while cutting the grass) and developed 'the sickness' for fantasy football.
Listening to fantasy football podcasts turned into a bit of an obsession. Without anywhere to express my opinions heading into the 2016 season, I wrote an e-book about fantasy football and the upcoming 2016 season. I eventually joined the writing staff at gridironexperts.com and thefantasyfootballers.com.
Fantasy Football Posting Schedule
I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do on Steemit, but I'm shooting for about 80% fantasy football content. To make it easy, the following is a tentative posting schedule:
Mon @3:00 p.m. ET: Monday Night Football preview/Interesting stats from the other weekly football games
Tues @3:00 p.m. ET: Players to Buy/Sell/Hold
Weds @3:00 p.m. ET: Players to Start/Sit and target in daily fantasy football
Thurs @3:00 p.m. ET: Thursday Night Preview
Fri @3:00 p.m. ET: Cash game and 50/50 lineups
Sat @3:00 p.m. ET: Head-to-Head draft video, GPP plays
Sun @10 a.m. ET: Last second adjustments (Anything that may have changed because of weather, injuries, suspensions, etc.)-Will be active leading up to the games to answer questions in the comments, but I'm thinking about doing a chat.
I'm pretty much going to leave it up to the steemit community to tell me what you want. If there's a certain topic in fantasy football you need help with, let me know and I'll adjust. Feel free to leave me questions and I'll do my best to answer them.
I'm also interested in leadership, cooking, and fatherhood so I might drop some Kah-nowldege in one of those areas to make up the other 20%.
With all of that being said, this will be a primarily fantasy football account. If you have any questions for the games tomorrow, feel free to drop them in the comments below. You can also follow me on twitter @FF_Gouge, but my focus will be steemit.
Thanks steemit!
P.S. 'Gouge' is a navy term for inside information or rumors.

Great introductory post, @fantasyfbgouge! There's a little something in there for everybody... :)
I'm interested in learning a little more about your fantasy football career and to see what kind of content you'll put out here. I have played DK in the past, but after consistently losing or treading water at best, I moved on.
There's a pretty vibrant sports community here on Steemit. I think you'll do well if you stick with it. Gaining traction can be difficult, but good content and lively engagement usually gets noticed.
Let me know if you have any questions; I'm happy to help. I'm not an expert on all things Steemit, but I will try to steer you in the right direction whenever I can.
I have followed you back and am interested in seeing what you got! Cheers!
Thanks for the reply.
I'm starting to find the football niche here and I'm recruiting some twitter folks to come on over and help build up the football base. If fantasy football becomes a fraction as popular on steemit as it is in twitter, it'll be huge.
I'm not sure what content will do best here for fantasy so I'm going to more or less shotgun it, write a post or two everyday, and see what seems to hit best. At this point steemit seems like a lot of trial and error anyways.
DK can be tough. I dabbled a little the past couple of years. I'm starting to get into a bit more this season, but I'm basically pouring cash game winnings into large GPPs hoping to hit. It's honestly not my specialty, but I'm smart enough to listen to people who are really into it.
Check out roto underworld. Very entertaining even if you dont agree with the takes
