village fair
My village name is Kalyanpur. It is a small village in Bogra district. Winter means a huge celebration of waj and feasting. Muslims consider it a religious event. The real purpose is religious discussion and propagation of Islam. If that original purpose has been suppressed long ago. Now people invite relatives and feed them on the occasion of Mahfil. A lot of money is spent every year. Waj observes Mahfil as a kind of tradition. It is very sad.
Waj mahfil is being held in our village today. Guest in every house. Each household spent a hefty sum of money. I think the scam that is being done in the name of religion needs to stop. I'm sorry if my words offend anyone. A big fair is held around the Waj Mahfil. A huge event with various items needed by people of almost all ages from children to adults. Children are the most enthusiastic. What the ocean calls for to sway, to jump, it has arrived.
I am very annoyed with my boys' excessive interest. There is no end to their needs. I bought many toys for both of them. I spent about 1300 rupees. For a lower middle class person like me, this is a huge sum of money. The boys are not happy. They want more. I realized that if I delay a little, they will exhaust me. I took the way back home. The boys stopped. Two men suit the balloon with a gun.
After that, they got serious about going up to the city. Forty taka, I took two of them to Nagar Dola. Tell me how you feel. They are having fun. Only I know what my situation is. Everyone, young and old, is crowded near Nagar Dola. One thing is still as popular as ever. Nagordola is the popular item. Not only popular, it can be said to be a historical thing.
