GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF YOU
1 Kings 17:1-9 KJV
[1] And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the Lord God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word.
[2] And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying,
[3] Get thee hence, and turn thee eastward, and hide thyself by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
[4] And it shall be, that thou shalt drink of the brook; and I have commanded the ravens to feed thee there.
[5] So he went and did according unto the word of the Lord : for he went and dwelt by the brook Cherith, that is before Jordan.
[6] And the ravens brought him bread and flesh in the morning, and bread and flesh in the evening; and he drank of the brook.
[7] And it came to pass after a while, that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land.
[8] And the word of the Lord came unto him, saying,
[9] Arise, get thee to Zarephath, which belongeth to Zidon, and dwell there: behold, I have commanded a widow woman there to sustain thee.
One of the major problems of human beings is worry/anxiety on how to meet up with our needs in life. This can weigh us down so much more that it can result in sleepless night and increase in blood pressure. The good news however is that the Lord in His word promises to supply all our needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus, not just according to our hard work or the world economy. (Philippians 4:19)
The above text (1 Kings 17:1-9) is the story of the nation of Israel during the time of prophet Elijah. The people of Israel forsook the worship of the true and the living God and turned to the worship of baals, the gods of other nation. The altar of God was broken down. Therefore, God sent a judgement on the nation. Elijah was sent to announce that there was not going to be rain upon the land over the period of time. It is interesting however, to see how God took care of his servant, Elijah in the midst of this famine that brought severe hardship upon the land.
We should know that the God who took care of Elijah in the midst of famine is more than able to take care of us, His servants in the midst of any kind of dryness or famine we might be passing through.
