Drug War Stories
Uhh ohh gang. Looks like they are continuing their failed war on the innocent. Incarcerating people for conduct that doesn't happen to directly, murder, rape, assault, or otherwise steal from another human. Even more ducked up is that these arbitrary corrupt rule lovers dont even care about the perverse incentives and the actual consequences of interventions they used to have to pretend was in the public interest.
Today's drug war stories discusses a jail where 27% of the inamtes developed drug habit during incarceration. So these people's psychological health has likely been directly injured by entering jail, unless the the drug use has helped them cope with a world run amok. The point here though is there are people we send to cages and we cant even control the cages and make them conform in the cages.
Got me wondering why we don't just treat people with respect. The serenity prayer emphasizes the importance of free will and perceiving reality accurately. Gotta wonder why we don't respect people's dignity and autonomy. If people are not using drugs to enhance their experience but instead escape a shippy situation, then why in the heck is the solution anything other than help them improve their situation. Get them a private room and warm bed and 2-3 meals a day and some cable tv or better books then maybe they may not use.
Anti drug war advocate neurologist Carl Hart discusses how even crackheads can make rational decisions and delay gratification. Why don't we treat these automotons as rational actors instead of clay to be molded into more desirable clay when in reality it just hurts everyone but the people invested in these corrupt state interventions.

Crack is one of the easier drugs to quit. Dr. Timothy Leary discovered that there was a significantly reduced recidivism rate if you dosed patients with hallucinogens, people who tripped in jail did not want to go back.

Dont do drugs kids. Stay in school.
yea, people making bad decisions and using drugs to escape their shitty life can be sad. Hopefully we can help make their lives less shitty and then maybe they will make better decisions.
Murder, rape, assault can never give peace to a nation. Drugs can destroy a nation. Let's all make one drug-free society by eliminating all hostilities in the world.
And what if people want to use drugs? Then be hostile to them?
Everyday i hear news about drugs case, murder, rape, assault, it time for the law enforcement to do more about it and let try to make drug free in our society
disagree. I think we should make a free society. People are going to use drugs, until they become angels. And until that day which should ensure they can realize a life they choose to lead.

If there is a drug task force operating in your state, city or county, participate in its hearings or meetings. Find out what they are advocating and whether or not they are taking a balanced approach. The focus now is typically on opioid overdose and the focus is often on treatment and making naloxone more available. You can influence the effort by informing the task force of the harms caused by prohibition and get goals and strategies related to reducing those harms added to the task force recommendations. Here is a link to the Milwaukee City-County Heroin, Opioid and Cocaine Task Force, which I am trying to influence.

Another way to fight the drug war is to counter the addiction as brain disease metaphor. The Brain Disease Model of Addiction (BDMA) theory is used as a justification for the search for a genetic cause for addiction. Please see my article at https://steemit.com/disease/@paulmozina/is-freedom-a-disease. Characterizing a person’s choice to consume a substance as a disease, possibly one with a genetic origin, forms a building block or justification for continuing and expanding the war on drugs, albeit, from a more humane perspective. This approach typically advertises destigmatization of the substance abuser, but rarely if ever include decriminalization of their actions — an important contradiction that needs to be pointed out.
