WHAT IS DEFORESTATION

Deforestation is the act of cutting down trees in a wide area or is the removal of forest trees from land that is then transformed into nonforest used or is the Permanent removal of the trees to create space for something besides the forest.

WHAT ARE THE CAUSES OF DEFORESTATION

afforestation is caused by artificial and natural and the followings are some of the causes of deforestation

• MINING
  This is one of the major causes of deforestation those who are involved in mining especially those in the large scale mining working especially those using open-pit mining techniques, always cutting down the forest tree and the construction of roads which will open the ways for them to go their site to do their mining and for them to able to see the place where the gold is located.

• AGRICULTURAL ACTIVITIES
  This is another cause of deforestation during the rainy season when farmers want to start farming before they want to expand the farmland they have to cut down trees before they can start farming.

• FOREST FIRE
  This is another cause of deforestation during the dry season most people burn the forest and they also burn the grasses inside the forest which turn up burn the trees as well

EFFECTS OF DEFORESTATION

Cutting down has caused a lot of effects on mankind and its surroundings and the following are some of the effects of deforestation.

• SOIL EROSION
  This is one of the effects of soil erosion because without the plant cover erosion normally occur and which clean the land into a river and the agricultural plants that frequently replace the trees can’t hold the tree into the soil and some of these trees are the coffee etc which can increase erosion.

• DESTRUCTION OF FOREST COVERS
  One of the effects of afforestation is when the tree and be cut down in the forest it will create a lot of space for many people to use the land for building construction and it will help to destroy the forest and this will increase deforestation.

• FLOODING
  This is one of the effects of deforestation the tree itself also consume water when it’s raining and when they cut down the tree from the environment and the rainy season has a lot of destructive effects and when it rains it will wash away the topsoil and what nutrients are left and this will increase deforestation.

WAYS TO PREVENT DEFORESTATION

They are a lot of ways we can do to stop deforestation and once we put a stop and end to this thing it will help us a lot the following are some of the ways to prevent deforestation.

• PLANT MORE TREES
  This is one of the ways to reduce deforestation when you are cutting down the tree you are causing a lot of loads of carbon dioxide to be loose into the air but when you plant more trees it will help in fighting global warming because trees consume a lot of carbon dioxide.

• DO NOT BURN FIREWOOD EXCESSIVELY
  This is one of the ways to reduce deforestation when we stop using the forest tree as firewood and charcoal and we should find an alternative way of getting it and stop cutting down the forest this will help to reduce deforestation.

• FIGHTING illegal MINING
  This is one of the ways to reduce deforestation the government need to stop people from doing illegal mining during the process of the destroy the forest by cutting down trees
