This Is Proof That Earning Money On YouTube Is Hard!

in #undefined5 years ago (edited)

A friend of mine and a very popular YouTuber in the motorcycle touring segment from India publicly shared this on his Facebook today. He has over 300K subscribers on his YT Channel here.

I had a few thoughts after seeing this picture that he shared earlier today and these are my observations around it.

I got him to join Steemit as well and his id is @xtrememotoadv but it was difficult to retain him here forever. The crypto issue in India did scare him away for a while and i've been urging him to come back.

Most people left like this not to mention lack of consistent earnings around here, especially if they needed to rely on such an income. But he had a lot less subscribers to his YT channel at the time he was using Steemit. I guess he eventually decided to focus all his attention on YT as many others have.

He spends a lot of the time on the road traveling and producing very good video content. It is mostly in Hindi but it's good. If you haven't seen it yet, check it out sometime.

But as you can see with so much hardwork gone into this these are his numbers. It was his best month so far ever on YT. So one can imagine how slow and gradual his journey may have been.

We can certainly do better for content creators on Steem if we could scale but for now YouTube is the best choice for video content creators globally. It took him over 2 years to hit a figure of INR 72,871 in the past month or about $1047 in a 28 day period.

He also gets sponsored rides as well as he's a well known traveller. Scaling up on your earnings from your content on YT is possible if you continue to grow subscribers in the thousands month after month.

When you garner millions of video views then your chances of earning a good income from video content on YT is fairly high. Probably better if you are from the western countries as CPMs are supposedly better there.

However, this kind of scaling isn't possible with Steem at the moment where there's no guaranteed income to top influencers and collaboration with brands is next to impossible. I hope this can change someday but for now i'm glad that platforms like @dtube are helping video content creators monetise so much faster and quicker compared to YouTube.

Many D.Tubers or Steem users here have likely made a LOT more money around here than they ever will or have from being on YouTube for years!

While it's possible to make consistent money online, it's not easy and this is his own words as you can see from the screenshot below.

If you are a content creator don't give up. Keep working on your craft and have more than one source of income to support yourself. My friend has a business in Delhi as well and his passion is to explore the world on a motorcycle and he's been living the dream for a while now.

It takes a lot of hardwork, dedication, consistency and quality in our work to be able to do this. I'm glad our blockchain tech has enabled thousands make a little extra money through their content, whatever the quality of the content may have been and for that we should be grateful.

If you are on YT earning an income please share your experience with me here.

This is one of the great samples related to Youtube' s unfairly distrubted payments. I have heard same situations before from many content creator on youtube. If you really wanna earn much money on Youtube, you have to find a sponsor such as brands or companies.

Hah, Dtubers are earning a lot from their quality videos. I've never gotten the hang of @dtube as when I upload any video they disappear from my dtube profile after a while. Not sure why. I asked on two of their posts but never got a response.

Can't really monetize on YouTube cause of Adsense issue. Would love to use Dtube but I got issues with it so meh...

I'm happy to hear your friend is finally doing better on YT.

@artgirl They disappear because the platform is new and they can't handle the storage cost of the videos. You can prevent your uploads from disappearing by hosting them yourself and paying for storage. Then they will play on dtube as long as you store them.
This issue is not limited to dtube, even YouTube itself is not profitable for the same reasons. However, Youtube has a a big enough audience to break even, but not able to make any profits yet. Check out this article:

Oh well... I won't use dtube anymore then.

Agreed with you brother. There should be more organic engagement and curators like you only make content creators get their due. There is now @threespeak by @theycallmedan and @oracle-d which is better than dtube in terms of functionality and rewarding.

Had no idea how these stats that show you your income, looks like. I do have a channel for years but never managed to get more known and become a partner with youtube. Hopefully, I will find out how it is by myself, one day..

Youtube, more than anything is inconsistent. Not only because the company is very abusing, but because the cash flow on youtube had been going down considerably in the past year.
