LeBron James Stuck Wearing No. 23 Again Next Season
Before the signing of Anthony Davis from New Orleans, LeBron James, somewhere along the line, promised to give up his No. 23 jersey. Davis has been wearing No. 23 for the past 7 seasons in New Orleans.
Unfortunately for James and Davis, this kind gesture will not be happening this year. Here's why . . .
Each of the teams in the NBA had until March 15th to notify Nike (the league's official outfitter) about a change in jersey number. That deadline came and went and now James will be wearing the number 23 this season as well.
According to ESPN, the change in jersey number would have cost Nike tens of millions of dollars (because the jersey's were already made).
Fortunately for the fans however, they don't have to feel "odd" for sporting their "Number 23" jersey's this upcoming season.
