When i visited Rome last year in October i did a lot of architectural photography of this ancient city. But i was also able to take some areal view pictures from the city from places above the average city level. This kind of photography is always very exciting for me because you can see how big a city is if you look from above down to the houses. At the moment i live a little outside and above from Linz in Austria and i really enjoy watching the lights from the city every evening as they glow so beautiful down there.

From a place a little above the city you could see how many churches there are in Rome. It is said to be the city with the biggest amount of Churches in the world. Depending on the Source there should be between 500 and 2000 churches in Rome. This amount is also depending on the classification of the buildings. What is a church, what a chapel or a
sacral building. One thing nobody can deny is that the catholic church in rome had a lot of money for building these various small and really big buildings. But i think it is also very interesting that so many different sources can't mention a number of churches but only an estimation so nobody really knows how much churches are there in Rome, because the classification is so difficult.

But Rome is also a very green city when you look at it from above, with several trees and gardens on the rooftops it almost seems magical. And on nearly every bigger steet you can see an avenue of trees decorating the city. The City Center is pretty crowded with houses and only a few trees but the more you get outside of the city center the more trees and avenues you'll find with nice plants.

I hadn't thought about how difficult it would be to count the churches. Would be fascinating to know something like, how many churches in the city built in each century.
Great pictures, beautiful city.
