A Witch in the Kitchen: "Yellow Lentils Meat Vegetable Burgers"

in #food5 years ago (edited)

Hello Dear Witches...!

Today I play a vegan dinner again, this time was a must, because I've run out of meat protein, tomorrow will be to go to the market and buy some meat and chicken, because although we are not vegans at home, we still enjoy this type of food, which is great, because they adapt to what I prepare, that makes my life easier.

At first glance you see a simple meal, but is loaded with nutrients, vitamins and minerals, I decided to prepare some hamburgers of yellow lentils, because I ran out of red lentils last week, I really do not like yellow lentils very much, because although the benefits and properties are the same, when preparing them in soup do not seem very pleasant, however to prepare the vegetable meat are perfect, because they have the perfect texture, to these I added some carrot to give a very soft sweet touch.

The preparation of these burgers is simple, although not as fast as I like the recipes, nevertheless the result is worth the effort and time spent. At home we've replaced beef and pork burgers with these delicious lentil burgers, and even chickpea burgers are delicious. Accompanied by a delicious fresh salad, with good bread and good aquafaba mayonnaise, it has become the favorite of family gatherings. .

Ingredients

  • 500 gr of peeled yellow lentils.
  • 1 Large grated carrot.
  • 2 Onion stems finely chopped.
  • 4 Peppers finely chopped.
  • 4 chopped garlic cloves...
  • 1/4 cup minced garlic.
  • 1 Tbsp common salt .
  • 1/2 Tbsp ground cumin.
  • 1/2 cup corn flour.
  • Frying oil.

  • Preparation

    .
    • Difficulty level: Low
    • Preparation time: 3 Hours
    • Baking time: 7 Minutes
    • Yield: 16 Portions

      1. To begin with, we choose to wash and soak our lentils for at least 2 and a half hours, this will help them to be well hydrated and easier to process and of course to cook.
      2. After the time of hydration, we drain and process, we can do it using a hand blender, or a manual mill, I personally use a manual mill, because the result I like, is a softer texture.
      3. Once our lentils have been ground, we add the vegetables (chives, chili, garlic, garlic and grated carrots), season with salt and cumin, and add the corn flour, we mix everything very well, you can use your hands or a wooden spoon.
      4. We let it rest for about 30 minutes, and then we portion the desired size, shape it and fry it, approximately 3 or 4 minutes per side, and ready our hamburgers

As you can see from My Mathias' chubby finger, he tells you how our rich hamburgers look, he loves them, in fact he doesn't like beef, but he loves vegetable meat, so at home they're never missing, they can be baked, only burgers are made and taken to an oven at 180°C for 20 Minutes, and they're just as delicious.

Remember that lentils are rich in iron, protein, fiber and low fat, help our body to fight cardiovascular disease, prevents anemia by its high iron content and helps lower blood glucose, in addition to being delicious. No doubt an excellent choice for dinner or a good lunch.

Mmmm! I love lentils! Haven't tried a lentil burger yet, we tend to make soup or to coffee cook them with nice sausages!

Coffee with lentils! I've never heard that before! I have to investigate to see what it's like! Every day we learn something new!

Autocorrect typo... It was supposed to be to slow cook them with sausages.

I hope you can try this substitute, because I was the same, and when I tried this for the first time, I fell in love!

They look great. Way better than the vegie burgers we buy frozen here, though now we can also get Beyond Meat. However, I don't know how healthy Beyond Meat really is.
